Hi,
I was wondering if any of you had any hints or tips on how to get reasonably priced tickets to South Pacific. We are planning a trip to NY in June and REALLY want to catch the production, but their online ticket prices are pretty steep for poor young'uns like us. Any way to get tickets for under $70?

No. There is the cancellation line and they are full price.
Student Rush was membership only, and they aren't taking any new members currently.
At this point you'd have to be either an LCT member or in the Studentixx program to get tickets below 75. Otherwise you'd have to try the cancellation line and hope the seats are in the loge (D-E) to not pay top price.
Become a member of LCT. It's incredibly worth it. It's $50 per year. Spend the $50 now to join, then in a few months (or whenever you want to go), purchase special member priced tickets. Member tickets are $50 for SOUTH PACIFIC. It's an incredible deal.
Well sometimes on craigslist.com or ebay there are people who can't go so they sell their tickets real cheap.
Akiva, the cheapest way to see it is to get a Lincoln Center Membership which is $50, and then your ticket will cost an additional $50, for a total of $100.
Without the LCT Membership, it will cost you $120 for a ticket.

Are there tickets set aside for LCT Members for all performances?
No. LCT Members have the same access as anyone else to available tickets.
TooDarnHot, the CHEAPEST way is to go to the modern day equivalent of The Russian Tea Room, sit at the bar and say rather loudly "You have NO IDEA what I'd do to get a ticket to South Pacific". In a room full of "Hold Me, Touch Me's" someone will make an offer....
Aren't scalpers selling tickets outside the theatre for 1,000 dollars? It's pretty crazy.
Are you serious, ljay?
Man, what a great way to make some cash.
Well it seems like I won't be able to see it then, if everything in this thread is true. Which really sucks, because we wanted to see it so badly.
Allofmylife: Where is this modern day equivalent of which you speak? It wouldn't be the first time I whored myself out for good tickets.

I've LOOKED as well and finally realized there's no way at this point and bit the bullet to get regular tickets and even THEN, the first avail. was in July. It's completely sold out until then and the box office guy literally laughed in front of the person in front of me when they kept asking about June.
I saw scalpers selling tickets for well over $550 outside of the theater on Thursday.
This is from Frank Rich's article on the NY Times about South Pacific.
Yet last week one man stood outside the theater with a stack of $100 bills offering $1,000 for a $120 ticket
Holy crap! I wish I had that kind of money. Funny how working in the theatre usually means you can't afford to see lots of it.

Akiva, I don't know anymore. I'm in Hollywood.

What about TKTS? They would probably be around $40, don't you think? I don't know if this show has been up there...but it's worth looking into.
bkonbroadway ~ If it's this sold out, it won't be on tkts. They havve to have tickets to give them to sell there.
No way you'll find them at TKTS. I called for two tickets for anytime the entire month of June over a month ago and there was NOTHING available, except a couple of singles for two or three performances. I even thought about joining the membership, until I found out it wouldn't do me any good since it was already fully sold out.

LOL. Sorry, but that's the funniest thing I've read on here all week.
I'm almost considering buying a bunch of tickets in July/August and reselling them closer to the performance date. After it sweeps the Tonys I could really see them becoming an even hotter ticket.

TooDarnHot's post must have been quite naughty since it's gone. Since people are talking about it I'm quite curious.
The very cheapest way to see this show is to hit someone standing in line over the head with a pipe or something and then take their tickets. Sure, you might risk facing jail time if you get caught but it's worth it for this show. Right?
I'd say a 2x4 Eris, you can burn it afterwards and bang, the weapon's gone.
