From the two productions I've seen (at Signature and then at the Kennedy Center a few years later), my personal problem with the book is that too much time is spent on the diplomatic shenanigans, which I doubt many audience members are interested in. The score marvelously serves the interpersonal drama, but the spy stuff feels almost completely disconnected from it; as a result, I end up just trying to sit patiently through all those scenes so that we can get to the next song. I recognize that some of this material is necessary to drive the plot, but I wish the book would be revised to keep it to a bare minimum.
When done correctly the final thirty minutes can be stunningly thrilling theatre. Sadly everything leading up to that can be a mess. Still it’s one of my favorite scores.

Adam Feldman posted the initials of the rumored cast = ? on Twitter. Is he just repeating the rumor or are we getting an announcement next week and he got an embargoed press release ?

Okay, so nothing new but confirms what’s been rumored here.

Perhaps they’ll announce the principals with the 4th principal TBA.
I've said it before, but I will say it again... Lea Michele is going to sing the HELL out of "Nobody's Side"...

How do you figure? I worked on a production of Chess 30 years ago. The Arbiter sings this song, not Freddy.

Not in every major production that's been produced. Freddie always sings One Night in Bangkok. Murray Head sung it as Freddie on the Original concept album. Philip Casnoff sang it in the original Broadway show as Freddie, same with Adam Pascal at the 2008 London concert and Raul Esparza in the Washington concerts where he played Freddie, the concerts from which the version coming to Broadway originated.
I hope this doesn't play at the St. James! it's too big of a house

The Queen of Versailles has the St James. I hope it gets the Broadhurst, much better size for this show.
Also my preferred Svetlana? Lilli Cooper.

Maybe someone can clarify this: I associate ''One Night in Bangkok'' with Freddie. Is Tveit playing Freddie, or is he playing Anatoly, who belts ''Anthem''? Thanks!

Tveit is Freddie.

Found the one who did it Off-Broadway with Artist's Perspective. Patrick Jude sang that number well!

I would love to see Bobby Conte in this. Why do I feel it's Lea, Aaron and Bobby!
We shall see soon....
Is it just me, or were there a lot of comments deleted from this thread? Usually when that happens I have at least a vague idea what led to the purge, but here I'm totally flummoxed. Can anyone comment, in a way that won't itself be deleted?

I suppose they are waiting for Boop! closure announcement and then will start selling ticket for Broadhurst soon after.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in that. The Shows section doesn’t have any exact dates listed for WAITING FOR GODOT and they’ve been announced already.
Agreed J, trusting this website for anything in terms of real information is foolish most of the time. Anyways, I'm very excited to see what Michael Mayer creates with this one.
