"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Desi Oakley (Roxie Hart) just concluded her most recent run.  She is joining the Waitress Tour in Toronto very soon.  ( Waitress is produced by Fran and Barry Weissler)

To clarify, Desi  is rejoining the tour (she originated the role on tour) for two weeks while Christine Dwyer gets married.

Jeff McCarthy is the new Billy Flynn. Interesting to note that since Penny Paschall left due to injury, they've had a rotation of swings playing "Aaron". Mostly Dan Gutierrez and Eddie Bennett(when he could join the company). Colt Adam Weiss returned for two weeks to play the role and now Eddie Bennett will play the role of Aaron until Sept. 15 now that David Bushman is back as a swing. Lots of movement with the men's ensemble in this show this year.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I remember some years ago that AFW performed the role of Velma in Japan, in Japanese.  I wonder if she still is able to do that.  From what I know, the fans in Japan go all out in showering individual cast members with presents galore.  I think I saw Denny Paschall perform as Amos one time.

OH NO! What happened to Denny? I don't think I've ever seen the show where he's been out. (And I've seen him dozens upon dozens of times over the years.) I'm going back August 11 and was hoping he'd be in his familiar space on stage.

I have been saying I want to see this again. Saw it twice on tour. The first time it was not so good. Saw it again on tour around 2008 or 2009 and it was incredible.

Maybe now is the time to see it again. Always wanted to see Charlotte in it and would love to see McCarthy onstage.

I've always wanted to see Charlotte as Roxie.

After FOSSE/VERDON, I was curious to revisit CHICAGO but was told it was in rough shape, and only to go back if there was a star coming through I wanted to see. Looks like there might be...

If you have a chance to see the show before October 13th, then you're in for a treat with Lana Gordon as Velma Kelly.  I've seen Charlotte as Roxie, Fastrada and Cassie.  This is the first time that I've noticed her getting a fairly long term contract as Roxie (an almost 4 month run).

I always enjoyed Charlotte's Roxie. Her and Lana together might get me to see it again. Was a relief that AFW isn't returning until mid-October.

Made a special trip Sunday so I could see Lana and Dylis together and they did not disappoint. Second time seeing Lana and I love her, and Dylis was a great Roxie, I love a Roxie that can actually do the choreography! I did notice they didn't do the cartwheel, which surprised me, perhaps one of them is injured?

First time seeing the show in maybe a year and a half, and I notice they modified the choreography in We Both Reached for the Gun, and they added a reaction for the ensemble, like a Hey or something?

Lots of new faces in the cast, it was nice to see fresh blood up there. And I do notice without Leslie at the baton, the music feels less rushed and I could really hear the instruments more, I always felt she kept too quick a tempo.

That’s not really that long of a stint for Charlotte as Roxie. She’s done it for much longer stints in the past and speaking of the past...

21 years ago today was one of the best/craziest performances ever. It was Bebe’s last performance as Velma, yea she’s come back but nothing will beat that performance. My friend and I slept out in front of the theatre for two days to get rush tickets - and we weren’t first in line.

Weren't they going to do this Search for the Next Roxie like a year ago? I actually thought they dropped the idea, along with the announced 20th anniversary costume refresh.

I love the idea, but I do hope that folks of all ages get into the finals, I don't want to see a baby-faced Roxie.

They're having 3 finalists for the Roxie search.  I think it's time for one of these searches.  When was that casting search for "Grease" ?  It will create buzz and interest for the show.  Maybe other shows will follow suit?

For those who have never had the joy of a performance by Ute Lemper, this is your chance.  She will be at the York Theatre from Sept. 17-22 in a theatrical piece about her 3 hour telephone encounter with Marlene Dietrich in 1988, when Ute was 24.  I am listening to her in an interview with Julie James on Sirius XM Ch. 72.  https://yorktheatre.org/on-stage/rendezvous-with-marlene
