I got to the city at like 12:30ish and got up to Palace and went in to ask about student rush [which was gone, obviously I kind of thought it would be] I decided to purchase a "obstructed view" seat for 31.50. I was extremely exicited. I was Row A, Seat 26. I was the last seat on the end.
I went to line up at 1:30 and got in a huge line of waiting people. As we entered had major All Shook Up flashbacks [had one when I was buying my ticket as well, it was my first time in the Palace since All Shook Up closed almost 2 years ago.] I walked up the stairs instead of elevator [big mistake, nearly fell flat on my face.] Then finally after going every which way but the right way, found my seat. Nice view. I have no idea why they called it obstructed at all.
The show began with such energy. I loved the setting of OmiGod You Guys. It was played out so well and it sounded fantastic live as opposed to the demo. Laura Bell and The Delta Nu's had us at OmiGod.
Laura Bell was fantastic, she sang the role perfectly, she was strong in her presence and really was just so loveable and fantastic. [For all of you who said she wasn't owning the role: Either you didn't see the same Laura Bell I saw or she's getting more comfortable by the days.] "Find My Way" and "Legally Blonde" were highlights for her. "So Much Better" at the end of Act One was so full of emotion and energy, she just blew me away. Her emotional moments like that were great. She should get atleast a Tony nomimnation for this outstanding performance.
Christian Borle was goofy, charming and nerdy and I loved it. "Chip On My Shoulder" was really great-- a tad long, but great, none the less. He has this goofy charm that comes off so well during "Chip On My Shoulder" and "Take It Like A Man" that just makes you wanna hug him.
Richard H. Blake is back to the jerky boyfriend role once again. I think he's kind of cheated out his role, because in the film, Warner is featured more. He comes off like a scumbag most of the time, but at the point where Callahan tells him he's not good enough, you feel bad for him for a moment.
Micheal Rupert was good. "Blood In The Water" is not a terrible song, but its not a very good song either, and I feel like it was kind of their attempt at trying to fit in Professor Callahan in with a song. They could have done better, but Micheal pulled it off with such a slimy way, it was great.
Kate Shindle has such a great voice, They should have included Vivienne in alot more numbers. She was great in "Legally Blonde [Remix]" and the HILARIOUS [got a HUGE laugh] "There! Right There!" She was wonderfully bitchy and fantastic, and her moment with Elle before "Legally Blonde [Remix]" was great.
Nikki Snelson was hilarious as Brooke, she was just so sassy and "Whipped Into Shape" was such an awesome dance number. Her role is so great and she makes it so memorable.
Annaleigh/Lesile/Dequina as the Sorioty Girl Greek Choir was hilarious, they were so funny. They had so many great moments especially when they sang "Postive" and "Bend And Snap". They stole many moments.
Ofreh was so amazing. Her voice is so powerful and "Ireland" is so hilarious. She just blew the audience away with her powerful pipes and comedic ablity. She should get a Supporting-Actress nomination at this year's Tonys for such a great role. She and Andy Karl were hilarious together. Andy was so great as Dewey and as Kyle. I loved those two together.
The ensemble itself has such great people in it: Natalie Joy Johnson is such a great Enid and has so pretty hilarious moments- Especially before "There, Right There" and after "Whipped Into Shape". Noah Weisberg is so great, he is just so goofy and hilarious in his moments onstage. Michelle Kitrell is great as usual, she plays the D.A. so well. But she doesn't have a memorable line like "I like to neck!" [sadly.] Also memorable ensemble members were Amber Efe as the hilarious Judge [the bathroom scene is hilarious.] Manuel Herrera and Matthew Risch as Nikos and Carlos [So hilarious, just that entire number: "There Right There" is great!] and Kate Wetherhead as Kate/Chutney was great: Whiny, annoying and yet funny. But the ensemble as whole was so great and full of energy.
I staged door after and met: Kate, Noah, Natalie, Amber, Christian, Micheal, Leslie, Annaleigh, Matthew, [When I met her I quoted her line from All Shook Up, she laughed and was like "Wow. you're good." and I told her about my love for All Shook Up.] and several other members of the cast.Laura Bell, Ofreh and Richard skipped out on stage door and stayed in to rest and eat lunch. Understandable, but, Laura Bell was to come out, but changed her mind, I was upset, but I understand she must be tired. Also apparently: Tyra Banks and Melissa Joan Hart [Sabrina The Teenage Witch] were at the show.
Overall I loved the show, it had so much energy, heart and hilarious moments. So like go see it you guys, OmiGod!
Then I found out Tchi4Lif188 was in the city [she was seeing Spring Awakening then Legally Blonde in the evening] and we saw each other for a second across a street, but didn't hang out till I got a text from her saying she was stage dooring Tarzan and ran down there after lunch and met her. She is so great and lovable. We waited for Jenn Gambatese and watched the cast of TARZAN just chill and hang out: Got a picture with Josh and then Jenn arrived. I waved and she came walking over. and said "Oh my gosh, Hi." and I smiled and I was like "Hi, how are you" and we chatted and I hugged her and told her over and over how much I just love her. She replied "Aw, your so sweet." Both me and Tchi4Lif188 had a blast being crazy at Tarzan.
Over all, a fantastic day!

What did you think of the score?
so glad you liked it. Natalie loves her LB hats. when i was there she was sporting the "Omigod" hat from the first day.
"What did you think of the score? "
I liked the score: It is very reminscent of Hairspray, in that it is very upbeat and poppy and full of energy.
Other than "Blood In The Water" being a not very well thought out song, the music is great: "Legally Blonde" was stuck in my head after as was "Bend and Snap" and "Postive" and of course "OmiGod You Guys". The score is very good in that it connects with what the show is about and also has you singing along after. I can't wait for a cast recording so I can bend and snap!
bump.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. Especially how Laura does own the role, she was amazing when I saw her. I'm going out sometime in the next couple of weekends to either rush or get obstructed view. I NEED to see it again, it's been stuck in my head and I can't get it out. Especially Legally Blonde Remix.

I know!
I need to see it again
LB Remix has been stuck in my head since I left the theater.
I love this show!
Obstructed view was nice, just don't take the stairs.

Oh believe me, you will.
It's a blast.
Where are these obstructed view seats located? I'm too lazy to get up early enough to make it in time for rush, and I would like to see it for kicks.

There in the first row of the balcony, I believe.
I saw in the last seat of the first row of the balcony.
You're giving out Tony awards like In My Life CD Samplers.

I just think they should atleast be nominated.
With GREY GARDENS predicted to take mostly everything, I think they atleast be recongized.
Besides, this is MY opinon, and that is YOUR opinon. Everyone is entitled to his and her OWN opinon.

I as well attended the perfromance yesterday at 2:00 and I wasn't sure how thrilled i would be with the show I was honestly only looking forward to seeing laura bell but i have to say i was really impressed i loved it the whole cast, the sets, everything was great i really didn't have any negative thoughts about the show coming out of the theatre
bway05, where were you sitting?
I just think they should atleast be nominated.

The only award GREY GARDENS is predicted to take is Best Leading Actress.
You should see the other contenders before stating that a show should be nominated. You can say that you liked the show, but without seeing its competition, you really have no basis to say that LEGALLY BLONDE should take nominations away from what could be more deserving shows.
Ok, I love the show! Haha, I saw it last night and I just really enjoyed it.
For me, it took a little while to get into, but eventually I came around. Laura Bell Bundy is incredible. I didn't expect for her to be THAT good, but she was. She got so into it during "So Much Better" that she was tearing up, and the last note was insane. She really just IS Elle. Orfeh is just amazing in anything, but her and Andy Karl were great! I absolutely love them! Orfeh's voice is just incredible. There's no other way to put it. Richard's part just was not written as well as it could have been, but he makes the best of it! Kate Shindle needs more songs. She is amazing but I just wish she had a bigger part. Nikki Snelson, I don't even know what to say about her. "Whipped Into Shape" is awesome and I don't know how none of them made a mistake. The entire cast just looks like they're having a blast, and it's really just a great show. I think it'll be around for a while.

WickedGeek, I can't tell you how hard that made me laugh.

That was kind of harsh, but it made me laugh.
I'm glad you had such a good time! I can't wait to see the show.

i was sitting in the balcony on the left side
It seems as though I'm the only one who thought the show was, overall, pretty crappy.
I wanted so much to like it, but after the opening number -- which was enjoyable -- it all went downhill.
I know, I know.
(Maybe it's because I'm over 40?) : )
Well at 28 i thought the show was fantastic , it does exactly what it says on the tine and the energy is amazing as well as the cast Laura Bell Bundy is fantastic as elle
those pictures all look like they were taken with a phone.
