It is amazing. A must see for any Ragtime fan. I still have it on VHS.
Of course I've seen it! Thanks to someone's post a few week ago, I found this on Youtube, it's really fantastic.
THANK YOU! I've been trying to track down a copy of this!
I watched this a few weeks ago. It's very good to watch if you have the time.

I wish there were more clips but of course it's essentially an infomercial for the product...
They showed this on the Washington state PBS a lot--and then on a local channel when the LA cast became the Vancouver in early 98--and I went 4 times obssesively (LaChanze and Rubinstein headed the cast)
However back then such specials weren't too random--I remember A&E having a huge one for Sunset Blvd, and local stations having Canadian ones for Pahntom, Miss Saigon, etc

I love the moment where Marin has just recorded the end of "Back to Before" and they all applaud her in the soundbooth, then Stokes comes out to hug her. It's sweet.
I can't get over how little Lea Michele is. It's a bit jarring to come back to BWW and see SA avatars after that... Whatever happened to the kid playing the Boy?
According to ibdb, Ragtime was the last show Alex Strange (The Little Boy) did.

I only realized yesterday I'm very ashamed to say that Lea was the same girl who was in Ragtime (I love Spring Awakening to death but avoid most threads on it on here cuz they go on such long rants :P )

I just figured out this past weekend that Lea Michele was in the Avenue Jew Easter Bonnet skit.
I adore Ragtime in all of its capacities. THANK YOU for this! I have never seen/heard of it and still can't believe that this amazing show closed in the red. It SHOULD have been a long run like Phantom and Les Mis...
I actually know the sister and brother of Alex Strange- they go to my school. He's a bartender in Vegas.
aw i love that show. i'ma have to pull out my copy of it and watch!
the videos have been removed...
hope it's not because of goofy108.
Most of it is good stuff but Garth Drabinsky doing the "Vision Thing" makes me ill. As always he's his own biggest fan.
Yeah, the segment about building the Ford (now Hilton) Theatre to house the show always makes me pretty angry. There's confidence in your show, and then there's complete arrogance.

I am so gladded i watched this A long time ago cus its priceless!!! I just finished reading the libretto and playing the songs in order cus I'm doing this show starting August and opening October and ITS CRAZY!!! Way too amazing!
thanks, i will.
If I'm not mistaken, the original little boy from the out-of-town tryouts was Paul Dano, later of Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood. Take another look at the documentary and see if you agree with me.
I have the whole Creating Ragtime doc (as well as others of other shows) uploaded onto my YouTube account: "LesMisere". Enjoy!
