YESS!!!!!
It'll be a huge close race against Adrienne Warren and Jenna de Waal for the Tonys next year!

I thought this got trashed by the critics when it was at La Jolla. Did it sell well enough to warrant a transfer, or do the producers just not care?

Will it, though? I hear the show is a dud and so is she.

I think it sold really well and extended at least once.

I didn’t know she had that big of a catalog.

I saw it near the end of its run here at the La Jolla Playhouse, and was happy that I did. Enjoyed it very much. The entire cast was excellent, particularly de Waal as "Diana". Friends liked the show enough that when it extended, they saw it a second time. I will be tempted to make yet another cross-country flight when it transfers to Broadway next year.

I saw it at La Jolla -- liked it but it did have some storytelling flaws and a few numbers that were cringe worthy (particularly the dancing paparazzi number). I thought there was enough there for it to work -- i just hoped they did some actual work since closing and aren't just going on Broadway because a house has opened.

I saw it as well, loved it despite its flaws. With some improvement, this could be a hit.

How exactly is she "so overdue"?? She's been in 5 Broadway shows -- and 2 of those were as a replacement!

Every time she’s been on a Broadway stage she’s given an untouchable performance. The talk of the town in 2007 was how ridiculous it was that she wasn’t nominated for “Grey Gardens.” Everything is subjective so if you disagree that’s fine, I don’t care. I’m just wondering if this show could be the one to get her a nomination.

Really? Untouchable? I agree that she's great and all, but I think "untouchable" is a bit of an overstatement.

I saw this in La Jolla and it's terrible... a turd in a pretty frock. None of the parts (nor the actors) sound or act like the actual people. Yes, there is a vague resemblance, but de Waal is vanilla. She has none of Diana's charisma. Erin Davie was excellent. I actually thought the Camilla character was more interesting. I'd like to see a musical about her (i.e. like Evita).
The music is generic and doesn't help. I didn't believe that any of the "characters" needed to sing. And the songs were banal in the extreme. The costumes were fine and the staging was adequate but the set needs some pizzazz. This needed to be completely rethought. I'll be interested to hear if anything is changed. It was a big,fat turkey if you ask me.

“None of them sound like the actual people”...Considering that James Hewitt has an atrocious singing voice (YouTube his performances on Celebrity X Factor if you dare!) that might be a good thing...
