"Danny DeVito will return to the Broadway stage this October in a new play by Theresa Rebeck called I Need That.

The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor will star alongside his daughter Lucy DeVito and Ray Anthony Thomas in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of what the company describes as “a deeply human new comedy.”

Preview and opening night dates for I Need That at Roundabout’s American Airlines Theatre will be announced later."

Good to see Roundabout producing more new plays on Broadway, but Theresa Rebeck always gives me pause.

Danny DeVito is a great get for them, tho, considering how well THE PRICE did.

Has there been a playwright in history whose plays are such consistent flops who gets so many productions in New York?

15 major productions off-Broadway since 1992 and this is her 5th Broadway show.

I hope it's a musical! I know the next one in the pipeline is that Rupert Holmes PIRATES "revisal" with David Hyde Pierce...should we expect that next season?

Yawn. Her work is awful. Her book is awful. I just don’t get how she keeps getting produced. Baffling.

This synopsis makes me think that Theresa Rebeck saw Between Riverside and Crazy and said "I can write this, but crappier".

At least her big Universal Studios action movie last year was a huge hit..................24% RottenTomatoes and just $14M at the box office! (THE 355, starring Chastain, Lupita, and Penelope Cruz)

I was so looking forward to that and wow, it was awful. Seminar is still her best work IMO

Maybe her work works better as a big action film where the words don't really matter. Even the title of this sounds...not great. But love Danny Devito.

They just announced their entire 23-24 season, the other one is a play called Home by Samm-Art Williams, directed by Kenny Leon at American Airlines Theatre in spring 2024.
