Can any of you guys think off the top of your head of any dark dramatic musical theatre songs for guys? Preferably something in the higher register (up to a G flat would be nice). Mainly traditional musical theatre or even operetta.
Any suggestions? it's for a callback and I'm kind of stumped. lol. Thanks in advance.

your girlfriend sounds smart. yea..I'd say Sweeney or Phantom but, Jane E. too possibly? but you should do something you're most comfy with.

Posted: 3/31/08 at 12:31amWhat's YF? What about "I Don't Care Much" from Cabaret? A lot depends on the performance to make it dark. Thematical, I'd suggest you look at some Kander and Ebb shows, they tend to hold a darker theme.

Mr. Andrews Vision from Titanic would be perfect.
I believe the highest note is a G, with several nice F sharps.

Anything from Jekyll and Hyde? Lost in the Darkness maybe? I love a lot of dark musicals but many were flops so I doubt sheet music would be available. I guess Sweeney Todd or Phantom would be good, though maybe a little too predictable.
Good luck!

Posted: 3/31/08 at 1:32pmI'm not even vaguely good at musical ranges of songs (so I have no idea if this is in yours), but what about 'Falcon in the Dive' from Scarlet Pimpernel?
