So this is just for people who have seen Dear Evan Hansen and fully understand the show. What will they perform on the Tony's? The obvious train of thought is Waving Through A Window because it's the signature song, it's easy to do, the whole cast is in it, and it doesn't give anything away.
The only other option that could work IMO would be You Will Be Found, which I'd prefer. One, because Ben Platt has performed Waving Through A Window so many places. Two, because I think it's a powerful message that should reach the whole nation. That said, they'd probably want to edit it so they don't give away the storyline exactly. Relatively similar to how they do it on the cast album.
Any other things they could do? What do you want to see? I would think it has to be one of those two.

They should definitely do 'You Will Be Found', I think. They've performed it as a cast on TV before, so I don't see why a slightly edited version shouldn't be performed at the Tonys. When are these decisions actually made by producers?

I'm sure they already know, but try to keep it under wraps as long as possible.
As far as it "reaching the whole nation", it won't. The Tony Awards aren't seen by that many. It has terrible ratings and we're very lucky it's still aired.

I'd be very happy with "You Will Be Found". Honestly, I wish they would release the edited down version like they sang on the Today show, without the dialogue, because it's beautiful as a stand alone song.
I also love "Sincerely Me" because it's upbeat and funny and an infectious tune but it would never fly on network tv and outside the context of the show wouldn't make sense to new viewers, unfortunately.

I strongly suspect that they will perform You Will Be Found.

I'd suspect they would want to feature their nominated actors as much as they could. So maybe Sincerely Me Reprise and Good For You. At the same time I'm holding out for a Words Fail performance.

Holy crap! Really?!
Anyways, You Will be Found is a perfect choice. But, my guilty pleasure would be Sincerely Me and Sincerely Me (Reprise). Those two songs are so cheerful and funny, although it would probably be a spoiler. It would also give Will Roland a chance to shine.
Wait, is Connor dying a spoiler though? He dies after the first ten minutes of the show...

I would love for it to be Sincerely Me tho.

There is no way Platt isn't doing Waving, at least a shortened version of it leading into Found.

Well, obviously the person that suggested it would reach everyone wasn't aware of that.

Yep. It's "Waving" all the way.

Glad someone posted as I've been wondering this very thing.
Waving Through a Window and You Will Be Found are the two most beautiful (and catchy/known) songs of the show. If I'm remembering correctly from the show, isn't You Will Be Found more of an ensemble number? Either way, can't wait for Tony night.

Out of context, "You Will Be Found" could be extremely misleading. I'll be shocked if they don't do "Window".

I can see them perhaps doing "Anybody Have a Map" to showcase Rachel and Mike, into Waving to showcase Ben, and then MAYBE into "You Will Be Found" taking the 7 min time slot like Hamilton....who knows

^People only know Ben Platt (and even that's a stretch), he will only be featured.

The Hansen hatred on these message boards. You Will Be Found will be misleading? I can't even. I can't wait for DEH to win the top awards!

I think "You Will Be Found" and "For Forever" are the best numbers of the show.

I also think You Will Be Found is misleading when taken out of the context of the show (hasn't stopped the marketing team though). If the audience doesn't know that his speech is a giant lie, it comes across as a simple, uplifting, "it gets better" message. Granted, that would probably sell tickets, but IMO the song is far more powerful when preceded by the tie and speech scenes. Otherwise it's almost cloying.
Count me in as another one hoping for Sincerely Me (even though I'd bet money they end up doing Waving).

Hahah you're so right, Gensho. These Hansen haters are ridiculous. Misleading? They probably watched a crappy bootleg and resent DEH because they're obsessed with The Great Comet for some reason.
Sincerely Me would make literally zero sense to perform. You Will Be Found would be ideal.

Hansen lover here, but I'm having trouble figuring out how they would manage to adapt "Found" for the show without diluting its impact, whereas "Waiving" seems to work without modification. I also think we aficionados have seen "Waiving" a lot and have forgotten the impact it could have on a tv audience with no exposure. After all, it's basically about selling more tickets.

Yeah it's definitely not AS emotional without him freezing on the ground. Seeing that scene in the theater was unbelievably powerful. I think we can all agree (minus the haters) that either Waving Through A Window OR You Will Be Found would be incredibly powerful to people who aren't familiar with the show already.

Or they could do the Glove song. Come to think of it, they should do the Glove song lol. #TeamPark

How is any of this hate related?
And for those that don't find it brilliant, why most you reduce it down to jealousy or because of love for a different show. The accusers sound like children.

This whole idea of Evan Hansen as sociopath/psychopath is ridiculous. Oh they can't do You Will Be Found because it's misleading because Evan is lying. Evan is a lost and anxious teenager who is deeply insecure. He was abandoned by his father when he was young and his mother his hustling nonstop to provide for her son. Teenagers are still not yet old enough to understand the full ramifications of their actions. Jared aids and abets Evan in his deception. Evan is not acting from a place of malice nor is he cut off emotionally from his actions. He's nothing but emotions. He sees how his stories are providing comfort to a grieving a family. When the Murphy's are being attacked, they don't turn against Evan. Instead they get into a big argument about why they couldn't have managed to stop the death of their son. At the end of the day, Evan has nothing to do with the death of Connor, the Murphy's anguish is why they couldn't manage to get Connor the help that he needed.
In Curious Incident of the Dog, Christopher's father lies to his son claiming that his mother died, when she was actually alive. He intercepted the letters that his mother sent to him. Well obviously Christopher figures it out. I didn't see Message boards devoted to his father was a psychopath.
It drives me crazy.

I'm routing for Words Fail. It's the most emotional song for Ben (imo) and really showcases his talent (imo). I would love it if they performed Sincerely Me. It's catchy and also gives Mike Faist an opportunity to perform as a nominee.
But I agree with most it will most likely be Waving or YWBF. But if it's YWBF. I hope they include the speech
Any will make me happy.
