Holy moly. That’s a lot of money, but good for him. I wonder if he is able to afford that with money from DEH or signing on to a record label.

Don't you think there's a good chance that Dad may have helped out?

hahaha, you think Ben Platt has made money from his "record deal". I'm sure it's DEH money, plus Pitch Perfect money, plus Dad's Wicked money. But it's important to remember that he didn't have to put the full $2m down, probably only $400-$500k.

He probably also has a good chunk of money from BOM.
Anyone else find it odd that Platt's new address was just published in the NY Post? Is that standard practice when a celebrity buys a new apartment, even in a well-known building?
This info is listed in city property records so I guess someone just felt it was news worthy. Good for Ben!
He got a great deal too considering the last known sale of his flat was back in 2005 for $2.19 million (in the article Ben bought the place for $2.1 million.)
It’s pretty standard practice. Not saying it’s a good practice but if you are well known enough it’s standard. I see this a lot in variety when celebs in Cali buy and sell homes.
there is nothing extravagant about this. No financial adviser would say this is not a sensible purchase from his own position.

He's a trust fund baby so a 2 million dollar apartment is basic for him. He's probably embarrassed this information was released. His friends most likely have 14 million dollar terrace apartments.

These seems reasonable for a Manhattan apartment. Is he considered a star now?

Two million on the Upper West Side?!?
Must be a walk-up studio.

Since when is buying an apartment never a sensible investment?
Only $2m? Isn't that a little over the typical price for a New York apartment? Why is this news and why did they just publicly announce his address? Invasion of privacy much?
This is a modest apartment by NYC standards. My apartment is nearly this much and I’m definitely not of great means.

I think my double negative may have messed you up
I hate that his personal business has been made so public.

I highly doubt that unless you are referring to some of his pitch perfect cast mates.

ACRIS lists all NYC property transfers, so unless you buy through an LLC (or another anonymizing legal structure) it will be public knowledge.
I'm just wondering why he didn't?...coop rules? (Alternatively, he might have bought through an llc-if the press can get his apartment number, the sale is public)
Oh, and 2 million is a relatively run of the mill apartment on the UWS. Nothing palatial

Sadly, I actually find that fascinating. Real estate ( and the prices) is a perverse little guilty hobby of mine.

It's just one Platt trust fund selling it under market value to another Platt trust fund.
