But I also think that the only competition CZJ had was from Montego Glover. And poor Montego had to spend half her performance compensating for a co-star who was acting like a half-wit rather than playing the character.

I agree that her biggest competition was Montego. I also think Montego should have been awarded.
I had figured the awards wanted the buzz of a Hollywood presence winning, regardless of it was deserving. I don't think it was "bought". I think it was advertising.

I just laughed out loud. I didn't watch one second of the second and final season of SMASH.

That was SOOOOO AWFUL! I haven't seen a second of the show since its pilot. And for damn good reason, jeez.
As for Montego, no way she should have won. I thought she was fine in the role but she was lacking the "wow" factor that Huey seemed to see in her. I thought she had a good voice, but nothing that'd make me stop in my tracks like he did.
