Do you think Jenny is aware that CZJ worked just as tirelessly during the fundraising period as the chorus kids?? It was CZJ, not a chorus member who gave the onstage curtain speech at ALNM every night. She and Lansbury also signed stacks of photos that they sold for something like $25 each (along with the posters the whole cast signed).

And then of course, as has been pointed out, Jenny and Hunter's hero "Patty Lupone" refuses to even participate in the fundraisers.

Yeah, the more I think about it, especially with Hunter saying over and over again to anyone who posted "I think CZJ deserved her award" until someone finally had to just put the screws on him, and then he finally relented with "i said that (she was worse in the theatre.....embarassing) on a private wall!" Like that doesn't make it lying. Or Jenny trying to say her issues with the Tonys were that she meant problems with the orchestra not being there, (thus ignoring all of her nasty "mother nature" will smite the Tonys, and "she's embarassed for our community because Scar Jo and CZJ won") and then when given the slightest push, was like "fine, let's have movie stars play the roles of Broadway stars!" Or when people confronted him with him changing the mission statement to tone it way down with "of course, I'm not stupid." It made me think, no you just think WE'RE stupid! And you expect us to, what, ignore your previous statements because "this is a positive board" all of a sudden. They both really are just disgraceful. I recall someone seemed genuinely concerned on that group's board, and Hunter smugly replied, "Don't worry, sir. We'll be just fine." Somebody should boo his ass. What a smug jerk.

Their hero Patty Lupone doesn't even participate in BC/EFA fundraisers- does that make her even less deserving of a Tony than CZJ by Jenn Cody's standards?

Yes she does. She's been at the Flea Market, hosted the Easter Bonnet at least once, and has done several concerts for BC/EFA. The only thing she doesn't do is a post-show speech for fundraising.

But back to the main point. I'm obviously not a fan of CZJ, and I almost always think she comes across as smug when she's trying to make jokes, but I'm also not an actor who might've had the chance to work with her and I'm not making these comments on my public facebook wall. Stop forgetting the internet lasts forever, Jen Cody. At least spare yourself further humiliation by setting your entire facebook profile to private and removing all fans/people you don't actually know in real life from your friends.

Tell us how you really feel, ljay. Hunter and Jen are lying hypocrites.

Their reaction is outright insulting. They're presented with actual proof (thanks Phyllis!) of what they're denying and still try to twist it in their favor. Do they believe people are stupid enough to believe them?

You're welcome, dear. And he needs to stop saying those comments were private, because they weren't. He may have thought they were private, but they weren't. I'm not a Facebook friend or fan of Chris Sieber and I was able to see all those comments before they deleted them.

I'm pretty sure we do. Maybe that's what it was.

But really, why do these people seem to lose all common sense (and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they had some in the first place) when they start posting online?

BWW - and the net - have taught me as a general rule that Broadway performers are humorless, dim, reactionary and unbelievably ignorant. Okay, not ALL performers, but I swear the list is in double digits by this point.

I've reached the point where if I truly enjoy a performer's work I have to actively avoid any coverage of their offstage life/personality because most of the time I end up not liking them very much.

"BWW - and the net - have taught me as a general rule that Broadway performers are humorless, dim, reactionary and unbelievably ignorant. Okay, not ALL performers, but I swear the list is in double digits by this point."

Seeing as how 99% of the Broadway performers currently knocking it out 8 shows a week haven't said a thing publicly on this matter, why would you say "as a general rule"? I mean you're talking 4 or 5 people out of at least 500+ actors? In my experience, the vast majority of Broadway casts and crews do their jobs and live their lives with a great deal of humor and perspective. Why paint them with the same brush as an extreme minority?

Actually, at Easter Bonnet last year, Jen Cody made a joke about LuPone not participating in BC/EFA fundraising when she was Little Sally, so I'm pretty sure word on the street is that LuPone does not participate b/c the audience went wild when she said that and hooted and hollered.

Well, I'm not just talking about the latest round with Hunter and Chris, etc. There was Alice Ripley. There's now Jason Robert Brown. I was also talking about the Orfehs, Anthony Rapps, Carly Jibsons, etc who have made appearances on this board and came off looking like a-holes, idiots, both or worse.

I was of course being hyperbolic and I was kidding, for the most part. But I do think it's in the double digits. No offense meant, BrianS. Also, if you've taken offense because you're a performer, you've kind of proven my point.

Not offended at all and I knew you wrote that somewhat tongue-in-cheek. Just questioning the logic that got you to a negative opinion of the majority. Again, my experience is that most of these people are incredibly funny and, when bad things happen to a member of the community, very quick to rally in support. And actually, one of my favorite things is not just that this community always seems to be participating in something charitable, but that the way they usually raise money is through some of the sharpest humor I've seen on stage.

For those complaining about deletions and editing on Hunter's site, I'm seeing deletions and editing going on here. Funny thing, that. People will edit themselves when they realize that they aren't showing themselves in the best light, just as some of you have. I honestly don't know why anyone should be surprised that some actors can be as catty and nasty as anonymous message board members. At least they're using their real names and aren't flinging around such epithets as "midget bitch", "smug prick", lying hypocrites", "troll", douche extraordinaire" etc - and I don't even like Hunter, Jen or Meredith to begin with, but it's absurd and over the top, this backlash.

"She was such an arrogant bitch at Gypsy of the Year and her awful performance didn't deserve the Tony"

"I stopped reading awhile ago - did she really say this?"

No, she didn't, Q, as Phyllis' screen capture plainly demonstrates. That's what Jen Cody said - bad enough, but someone has to make it even worse, adding name-calling, things she never said, and getting the event wrong in the process? These whole thing has been blown ridiculously out or proportion - it's like a really bad game of telephone.

"Actually, at Easter Bonnet last year, Jen Cody made a joke about LuPone not participating in BC/EFA fundraising when she was Little Sally, so I'm pretty sure word on the street is that LuPone does not participate b/c the audience went wild when she said that and hooted and hollered."

What givesmevoice said. Once, in 2002, there was an incident where Patti LuPone and other actors in Noises Off! did not want to participate in the after-show BC/EFA speech. They, like many others, objected to the practice on the grounds that it's inappropriate to hit up audience members for money immediately following the performance of a show, no matter how worthy the cause. It was agreed that those who did not wish to participate would leave the stage at the end of the show. A few actors that had objected got cold feet and at the last minute, remained on stage. Patti felt betrayed and got pissed about it, offstage. She has done much for BC/EFA, before and since, including solo concerts, appearances in joint concerts, flea markets and so on. She just doesn't like asking for money after an audience has already shelled out a bundle for tickets.

yes, I edited. I spelled about with two "A" s.

Ghostlight is right. The name calling isn't necessary, especially since there's so much actual fodder.

He's also probably right that it's absurd and over the top over here with the backlash, but my bone of contention (with Hunter and the gang, not with ghostlight2) is that they should all just man up and apologize. Stop making excuses, stop blaming everyone for reading and repeating the comments that they made, delete the stupid, useless Facebook group and move on.
