For those complaining about deletions and editing on Hunter's site, I'm seeing deletions and editing going on here. Funny thing, that. People will edit themselves when they realize that they aren't showing themselves in the best light, just as some of you have. I honestly don't know why anyone should be surprised that some actors can be as catty and nasty as anonymous message board members. At least they're using their real names and aren't flinging around such epithets as "midget bitch", "smug prick", lying hypocrites", "troll", douche extraordinaire" etc - and I don't even like Hunter, Jen or Meredith to begin with, but it's absurd and over the top, this backlash.
"She was such an arrogant bitch at Gypsy of the Year and her awful performance didn't deserve the Tony"
"I stopped reading awhile ago - did she really say this?" No, she didn't, Q, as Phyllis' screen capture plainly demonstrates.
That's what Jen Cody said - bad enough, but someone has to make it even worse, adding name-calling, things she never said, and getting the event wrong in the process? These whole thing has been blown ridiculously out or proportion - it's like a really bad game of telephone.
"Actually, at Easter Bonnet last year, Jen Cody made a joke about LuPone not participating in BC/EFA fundraising when she was Little Sally, so I'm pretty sure word on the street is that LuPone does not participate b/c the audience went wild when she said that and hooted and hollered." What givesmevoice said.
Once, in 2002, there was an incident where Patti LuPone and other actors in Noises Off! did not want to participate in the after-show BC/EFA speech. They, like many others, objected to the practice on the grounds that it's inappropriate to hit up audience members for money immediately following the performance of a show, no matter how worthy the cause. It was agreed that those who did not wish to participate would leave the stage at the end of the show. A few actors that had objected got cold feet and at the last minute, remained on stage. Patti felt betrayed and got pissed about it,
offstage. She has done much for BC/EFA, before and since, including solo concerts, appearances in joint concerts, flea markets and so on. She just doesn't like asking for money after an audience has already shelled out a bundle for tickets.
yes, I edited. I spelled about with two "A" s.
