I am not really sure about having Ms. Clarke singing at the funeral scene. I hate it so when white directors place Black folks singing in white play classics some mournful spiritual song.Like in the Scarlett Johannsen production of Cat On a Hot Tin Roof and the director had all the Black actors singing spirituals at one point. Believe me, as you saw for yourself, Ms. Clarke is a strong enough actress that she didn't need to be burdened with a song in order to provide some kind of dramatic impact."
Just a reminder that the production is a co-directed by Miranda Cromwell, a black woman - not assistant-directed, but co-directed. Every creative decision would either have been made by Cromwell, or thoroughly discussed with her. That doesn’t necessarily negate everything you’re saying, but I think it’s important to keep in mind when considering the racial optics of the production.

Shame they’re still going through with this and not bringing the recent London production over.
Just have both productions play in rep. at the same theater this way Lane only has to do 4 shows a week.
It sounds exciting, and I wish it well.
But, at the same time, I'm wondering if anything could surpass the sublime 1998 revival.
That Hollywood Reporter article refers to the play as "Henry Miller's Death of a Salesman," rather than "Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman."

borrrrrrring this is such a borrrrring idea
I've never seen a live production of Death of a Salesman (had to read it back in high school) so I'm glad Rudin is producing this play next year. Looking forward to seeing it! Hopefully it will be at the Booth.

Thrilled see Lane and Metcalf in these roles, but it is indeed a shame that New York audiences won't get to see Clarke and Pierce in them. They were riveting in London.

I don’t understand comments like this. Are revivals of good plays just supposed to stop after an excellent production closes? 1998 was 22 years ago.
Any predictions/hopes for the rest of the cast?
I’d personally like to see Jonathon Groff or Eddie Redmayne as Biff. I think they could both act the part, they look about the right age, and they’re both big enough names.
I’d love to see Timothee Chalamet play Biff someday, but he might be a bit too young now. Also, I have a hard time imagining him playing Nathan Lane’s son...
I think Chalamet could act the part of Biff well, but he’d need to really bulk up if he wants to play it (and as said before, he’s a bit too young to do it now) Biff’s supposed to have been a great football player, and while his actor doesn’t need to be ripped, he should still be decently built. Willie says that Biff’s built like an Adonis, but Chalamet is more built like a skeleton. Like I said, he could act the part well, but having someone so thin as Biff would be distracting.

He actually performs THE Biff monologue in the movie Miss Stevens. And it is indeed brilliant.

I know he played Happy in the last revival, but my choice for Biff is Finn Wittrock. I think he’d be wonderful. I also think Ezra Miller would be great as well
Every time I think Laurie Metcalf's career can't get any more prolific, we get hit with something like this. Dayum! Yas queen
Nathan Lane teases Broadway return
“Not next season, but the following I will be making a return.”
"It's not for about a year and a half. I can't talk about it, but it's something I've wanted to do for a very long time [and it's] with Joe Mantello.”
