Today I won the lotto for the 2 PM performance of Wicked. Clarke was in the show and seemed fine for all of act one. However, right before the start of act two there was an announcement saying that Laura Woyasz was going to be playing the role for the second act. Does anyone know what happened to Clarke and if she by chance returned for the evening performance?
I am just curious is all, this is only the second time I have ever been at a show where they had to replace someone for the second act.
I hope Katie was ok, but how was Laura as Glinda (second act)?
Based on Laura Woyasz's facebook postings, Katie Rose Clarke's attendance is atrocious.
That's weird since she almost never missed a show on tour.
Her attendance was great on tour. Um, I know this is a stretch, but if she's being pulled out of the show at intermission, maybe she's been sick or injured for a while, thus explaining the atrocious attendance.
Whatever the case, I hope she is better soon. She is lovely.
She's been consistently having attendance problems for a while now.

Yeah, she was pretty sick on Thursday night. And she didn't get out to stage door last night. I think she's probably just not feeling well.
I go see this show a lot and she's always there, so I'm not sure about her having an attendance problem. That doesn't really make sense.

She's pregnant.
They don't call her "Call Out Katie" for nothing.

False. Saw the tour four times in Buffalo and never saw her, and it was here for a month.

whitewaybnd, f*ck off.
They're paid to do it 8 times a week. If they can't do it with reasonable consistency then they have no business playing the part.

Alli Mauzey missed 2.5 shows her entire run with the Broadway company- once to attend the closing performance of Hairspray, once because the show had a 9 show week (the Actor's Fund performance was that week), and then she left once in act 1 because she was sick.
But the thing is there are actresses who can do it 8 times a week. That is what is expected. It's Broadway, and that is one of the things that makes you a Broadway actor. The fact that you are able to do it everyday. You got to have stamina.

alli mauzey was new to the part when she started, and she didnt even last a year on bway, so im pretty sure that doesnt even count. And i've seen a lot of glindas, half of which some nights cant give a crap, and katie puts 150% into every performance.
krc has been doing this for over 3 years. it gets tough. im not saying she's the most amazing person ever and that she should take sick days or tired days whenever the hell she wants, but she's obvi pretty effing sick if she had to witch switch at intermission.

Here we go again with THAT tired argument. It doesn't matter if we try or not, or whether we're in the industry or not. Do I have to have a DDS suffix to criticize my dentist?
whitewaybnd, what does a particular actresses run in the show and how much time they took off have to do with the price of tea in China?
Laura was very good. I do think that she did the best job of any of the Glindas I have seen in terms of the transformation the character goes through during act two.
I should also add that I have seen this current cast a few times at various points here and there. At no point did I see an understudy for either Katie or Mandy, until this afternoon of course.
Whitewaybnd, you type like sh*t.
LOL "witch switch."
Funny that that person only joined today, eh?

Kendra Kassebaum has done it longer than Katie.
It's called professionalism. If she can't do it 8 times a week, no matter her prior experience, then she shouldn't be doing it.

What the hell does it matter how long someone's played the role? That's an incredibly dumb argument. And Mauzey could have "lasted" as long as she wanted to in the role. By her own admission, the producers begged her to extend, but she chose to move on (though she just finished a run as Glinda in SF, where to my knowledge, she never missed a single show). As for Glindas not "giving a crap,", again, certainly not the case with Mauzey, who was never less than committed to the role and got more laughs than any other Glinda I've seen.
adamgreer, I didn't realize that about Alli, thanks for bringing that to our attention. Kudos to her.

Someone I know went to see Katie on Sunday and said she was top shape.
Obviously she has no business being on Broadway. She should go to Hollywood, or *shudder* television.

Or do it in Germany. Alternates for everybody!
