We all know Trump has no friends and has to shuffle the same dozen or so people around to different offices, but this one is just hilariously shallow.
"Who should we put in charge of the Kennedy Center now that you've purged its leadership?"
"Ric's gay, right? Give him the job!"
"The former spy chief? What qualifications does he have to run an arts-"
"HE'S GAY, ISN'T HE!?!"

Can we start a million drag queens march on Washington DC? I've never been in drag but will happily start.

And what are these Kennedy Center drag shows that the orange thing is crying about? Did they do Mrs. Doubtfire or something? Also, hysterical that he’s crying about drag shows when he packs on more makeup than any drag queen and I’m pretty sure that dead possum on his repulsive head counts as a wig.

Cancel your subscription, tell everyone in your life to do so as well. Encourage casual theatergoers to avoid it. Go to every regional show, off Broadway and Broadway show you possibly can.
Art and creative expression will never go away, and we need it more than ever before. Just not at that particular building for the next four years.

Doesn't canceling a subscription hurt everyone that works there, and all the shows playing there? I will do that though if the programming changes as they've threatened but punishing say the production of PARADE by not going doesn't seem to be the best idea.

Well, that's an article that says precisely nothing. But what else should I expect from Axios?

New Kennedy Center board elects Trump as chair. Rutter departs as president.
The Kennedy Center board of trustees voted Wednesday afternoon to install President Donald Trump as chairman of the board, cementing the plan Trump announced Friday to overhaul the storied arts institution with him at its helm. In a staff meeting that followed, Deborah Rutter said she was departing as president.
The day before, he told reporters aboard Air Force One that “some of the shows were terrible. They were a disgrace that they were even put on.” He also said he has not visited the center but receives reports on it.
“I didn’t want to go,” he said. “There was nothing I wanted to see.”

"Moving away from woke culture" to "be broader and more inclusive" is weapons-grade doublespeak

Here's the name of a musical he can see if he's never been there - DISASTER !
What were these drag shows targeted to children?? Sorry, Kennedy Center, but I won't be contributing or attending shows there any longer under this regime. Hope the MAGA theatre-goers enjoy this new golden age there.

Do you think he’ll finally give Liza Minnelli her honor? Those of you that have watched the apprentice know that she has worked and performed for him. Nothing political it was just like fundraising events decades ago. I hope that if she does get the honor, she passes on it this time. The hell with all of them.

Democrats are really letting themselves be punching bags and not fighting this? This move should be resulting in lawsuits not concession posts.

Blaming Democrats for the awful actions of Republicans is one of the reasons we got into this mess. There's no magic bullet to stop this.
This feels like a pretty shameless power grab to me + retaliation. Was the Kennedy Center even really that 'woke'? That feels like a smoke screen to justify occupation....Trump's reasoning was very weak even for his standards. Looking at who is on the board now (Usha Vance, Susie Wiles, Susie Wiles Mother etc.) it seems like a vanity project so these people get to run a highly prestigious art institution.

And how does this move exactly lower the cost of gas or groceries? Maybe gas because people won't be driving to see shows there anymore with him being the Chair L O L But what's his end game here? Confusing.
