I have tickets for ABT's Crime and Punishment (ironically) tomorrow night at the Kennedy Center and I'm truly torn as to what to do. Attending a performance there just 48 hours after the seizure seems at best like not caring about what happened and at worst like condoning it. On the other hand staying home seems like abandoning one of America's great ballet companies which I have loved and supported for decades, not to mention all the employees at the Center, some of whom I know personally as I worked there throughout the 80s and 90s.

Tour of Helen Hayes-nominated children's show FINN THE MUSICAL cancelled
A "purely financial decision" (yeah, right).
it's not even a month in and he's destroying this country. unless, of course, you're white, straight-Christian American. Otherwise, there's no need to worry.

I mean my white, straight, Presbyterian sister was riffed today. So add scientists, researchers, feds, and anyone with a brain to those that need to worry.
Has Jeffrey Finn (the Broadway producer who runs theatre programming) been fired or quit…?

Kennedy Center staff describe climate of fear as events drop from calendar

As of right now, it actually uses "LGB," which is an even more in-your-face label embraced online by the worst kind of transphobe.

Eureka Day is scheduled to open in three weeks and there's still no cast listed on the KC website.
Breaks my heart seeing a long running, relatively well regarded art institution, crumbling before our eyes. All because of one ridiculous, petty, small, vindictive, horrible man.
Kennedy Center Honors will have no meaning now. The institutions reputation now damaged, potentially beyond repair. A sad day.

How did Trump so easily take over the Kennedy Center? Ask Sean Spicer.
In September 2021, Sean Spicer — the former Trump administration press secretary and peripatetic cable news opinionator — received a politely threatening email from President Joe Biden’s White House.
The note offered him a choice: “please” resign from a Naval Academy advisory board that President Donald Trump had appointed him to before leaving office, or Biden would fire him — that very evening.
The tersely worded, four-line missive set in motion a series of events that would, in ways both sinuous and counterintuitive, make it easier for Trump to abruptly purge the Kennedy Center board of Biden loyalists last week, install himself as chairman and give himself an unprecedented role in shaping American arts. It was as Trump himself has crowed, “a takeover.”

Sorry, but your post is one of the biggest crock of shi*s I've ever read in my life.

Personally, I hope a lot more people do that, and that the subscription base dries up. I would love to see the Kennedy Center experience serious issues in the next year or two.
I imagine the Kennedy Center honors will be infected seriously.

Unfortunately, I don't agree with the last claim that the arts will always be here. This administration will fight to destroy them.
Why Trump’s Takeover of the Kennedy Center Will Reverberate in Hollywood and Beyond
A premier cultural institution may soon only draw artists comfortable standing alongside Trump.
I’m going to be chairman of it, and we’re going to make sure that it’s good and it’s not going to be ‘woke.’”

wouldn't be surprised if he tries to ban Pride events. nothing shocks me anymore with this fraud & felon.

In my opinion, this whole thing with DEI and the Kennedy Center is just the tip of the Iceberg.
