This orange turd hasn't even been in office for a month yet and he's completely turned this country upside down. Offended our greatest ally in Canada and now he's targeting the arts. There's zero reason for him to be involved in the Kennedy Center or the arts in any way shape or form.

Stop blaming Trump on those who did not support him. The fault lies solely with those who, knowing all they do about him from the past ten (or more) years, cast a vote for him. They are garbage (I used to say "human garbage," but I don't recognize them as humans anymore). Every single one deserves a swift but miserable death."

but its also funny to list many of the Left's excesses (which are liabilities in the general election, they will never learn) as dooming Kamala when those were the policies the Dems were embracing *in 2020* when Biden won. Kamala ran centrist, and too many leftists punished her for it, shooting themselves and all of us in the foot. the 30% who dont vote at all will continue to doom this country to its demise. trump is the foolish puppet to some truly evil people. buckle up.
Here is the KenCen’s response: https://www.kennedy-center.org/kennedy-center-statement/
Throughout our history, the Kennedy Center has enjoyed strong support from members of congress and their staffs—Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. Since our doors opened in1971, we have had a collaborative relationship with every presidential administration. Since that time, the Kennedy Center has had a bi-partisan board of trustees that has supported the arts in a non-partisan fashion.
While we are a living memorial to President Kennedy, we are also a unique public-private partnership. The Center is supported by federal annual appropriations for the upkeep and maintenance of the building as a federal memorial, or approximately 16% of the total operating budget. Support for the Center’s artistic programming comes from ticket sales, donations, rental income, and other revenue sources.
The Kennedy Center is aware of the post made recently by POTUS on social media. We have received no official communications from the White House regarding changes to our board of trustees. We are aware that some members of our board have received termination notices from the administration.
Per the Center’s governance established by Congress in 1958, the chair of the board of trustees is appointed by the Center’s board members. There is nothing in the Center’s statute that would prevent a new administration from replacing board members; however, this would be the first time such action has been taken with the Kennedy Center’s board.

Democrats didn’t run on basically any of those things. This is all the fantasy version of what the right thought the left was running on. If anything, the main critique about the Harris campaign was she didn’t go left enough.
And there’s a misconception that a massive amount of voters switches their votes: they didn’t.
“Only 4 percent of returning Biden voters cast ballots for Trump in 2024 – roughly the same share of returning Trump voters who cast ballots for Harris, or about 5 million voters combined. In other words, vote-switching was basically a wash in terms of the final result.”
(Great analysis of the numbers here)
Trump won because Democrats stayed home, there’s no disputing that. But your post just isn’t painting the right picture.
So, accordingly, we should not be bowing down?

Ironically, that's also a misconception. Social media algorithms have done their best to push that idea, but polling of the voting population showed that Harris was seeing as "too liberal" and Trump moderate in comparison (this was also the case with Clinton vs Trump in 2016 - take of that what you will).
Polling also showed that if you were paying attention to politics and the news, you were more likely to vote for Harris. Trump's campaign focused on low-propensity and low-information voters who were told to be mad about prices - this also explains why most swing state Dem Senators kept their seats and Dems gained seats in the House - a significant amount of Trump voters just put his name at the top and left everything else blank.
As I said earlier, everything is as stupid as it looks.

With all due respect, I don’t recall Kamala Harris running on any of those issues. I do, however, remember her talking about democracy, $50K tax credits for people starting a new business, $25K tax credit for people buying their first home, help for people caring for their ailing parents. But, the right-wing media instead convinced America that Harris and the Dems were trying to somehow cancel straight, white people and that Biden (and not COVID and the recovery from it) was to blame for the price of groceries. What I learned in this election is that there are a lot of Americans who are selfish and vote with their wallets and not their hearts or brains (hence I have an Uncle who is a Trumper because of his 401K). A high-yield 401K is nice, but, is it really more important than the way we treat each other or the way our country treats minorities/immigrants/etc. People like James Carville and David Axelrod and John Fetterman can blame this election loss on Wokeness all they want….but…it really comes down to people only caring about themselves. I’ll also add that there are many misinformed people in this country.
Also, what the F*** is wrong with being woke in the first place?

But was that a reflection of her actual campaign or a narrative that was being pushed? People who viewed Kamala as “too liberal” were probably never going to vote for her or were always going to vote Trump, even as she went out of her way to be as centrist as possible. As I understand it, the people that would have won her the election are the ones she alienated in the Democratic base and ultimately stayed home. Though, I’ll acknowledge there isn’t just one answer. We’re all fishing around the in dark trying to explain our current predicament.
Anyway, you’re right that everything is pretty stupid.

if only 1.14 million voters had changed their minds and voted harris instead of trump we wouldnt be in this nightmare
or maybe some of the 3.18 million voters who sat out entirely in protest might have made the difference but hey ‘genocide joe’ was apparently the worst possible president when it came to gaza
instead the pendulum was pushed too hard and swung decisively in the other direction

I was wondering when the ignorant right wingers were going to start posting trash.
Blaming "wokeness" for the election loss has been a convenient argument that ignores the fact that Biden was incredibly unpopular, a poor communicator even of his successes, and broadly seen as unfit to be running for re-election well before he dropped out- and then after he dropped out there was a potent narrative that there had been a cover up to hide his frailty. Harris did not do enough in the little time she had to distinguish herself from him and, largely because she inherited his campaign and kept his close aides, essentially became the incumbent in a year in which incumbency was being rejected around the world.
Wait, did people not believe him when he informed people his only goals if he wins re-election were retaliation and burning this country to the ground? Did they just laugh that off cuz mY eGgS cOsT tOo MuCh? Yeah, he said that a year ago and kept saying it allll the way to election day. How odd people didn't believe a Sociopathic Rapey Racist Toddler would f*ck with everyone who didn't vote for him.
He will get bored pretty quick considering he knows nothing about art, culture, music, joy or how to get to Kennedy Center. But I'm sure he will just put on plays reenacting January 6th set to Kid Rock music sung by The League of the South boys.
This is just a distraction from Musk slowly putting on his Nazi uniform and Russ Vought who is more than half way done implementing Project 2025.
MAGAs refused to acknowledge that Project 2025 was a real thing and now that Dumpster is putting it into effect, they're dumbfounded about it's existence.

Nope, they didn't. It's been pretty well documented for years that when the median voter is told about the Republican platform they consider it so over-the-top cruel that they simply don't believe it. Now consider Trump's policies are even more malicious and cruel than that of the average Republican, and the reaction you get even from direct quotes will be "he's just joking", "he'll never do that", "they won't let him", etc.
But again, it's not a distraction. It's not part of a plan. It's just dumb.
Curious what kinds of adaptations to existing properties would be required to satisfy Trump. The Sound of Music, but the Von Trapp family decides to stay and perform after all? Ragtime, but the only cast members are the New Rochelle family? Perhaps a version of A Chorus Line where Zach immediately dismisses all the non-white Christian heterosexual dancers in celebration of anti-DEI policies? So many possibilities!

My last comment: This country is a mess. A global laughingstock. A sinking ship. A declining empire. Elect Trump not once, but twice? Wow. Always knew ‘muricans were stupid, but this sets the bar. This country wasn’t invaded. It willingly handed the keys to an evil, egomaniacal child. But, but, but those egg prices! What better reason to bow down to MAGA. Enjoy it, USA. This is what you wanted.

Not quite half. Considering the large amount of people that didn't vote in 2024, it equates to about 2/5 voting for him, 2/5 for Harris and 1/5 either didn't vote or voted third party.
Personally, this is one of my most FAVORITE moves that Trump has made so far. The Broadway community has long embraced Democrats and welcomed them. The minute Trump went in office they totally attacked him. They themed a Shakespeare in the Park play that mimicked the assassination of a man who looked like him. They lied about him and his family, made fun of him and spoke out against him as much as they could. Since then, the Broadway experience has gone the way of extremes and DEI. It needs a total re-do. This is KARMA and COMMON SENSE at its best. You reap what you sow, Broadway!

Julius Caesar has historically been depicted as the sitting president when it’s performed. 5 years prior to the Shakespeare in the Park production there was a production of the play that depicted Caesar as Barack Obama.
Hello. America’s former friend and ally here, a Canadian.
Just checking in on the dumpster fire. I can’t really use the words I’d like, to describe how I feel about the last two weeks.
My only thought with this is… if America is so broken, and needs so much work to fix whatever perceived issues the orange one seems to believe exist, how does he have the time to take on such a frivolous position, for a President?
How about the price of eggs, am I right?
