Aw, I wanted Catherine Z. Jones to win, there goes her Tony EVERYDAY RAPTURE May Replace LIPS TOGETHER... at Roundabout

^^ What? What's with the snarky response? I said noting that deserved that. I think an important part of the award is earning it in your career. She has been in numerous shows and has been a very successful actress who finally deserves the recognition and think that has a great effect on her winning.

Why should it though :-/? They are performance awards (for a particular performance).
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

I don't think it matters either way, because if Sherie delivers the same caliber of performance on Broadway as she did Off-Broadway, it will be the best performance by a lead female this season. She will deserve the Tony regardless of her previous theatre experience.

While you may not agree with Drunk Chita Rivera, they have a point.

An actors career can play a role in their Tony chances. This can also be a matter of opinion though (I believe this to be the case with Gregory Jbara's recent win. Completely deserved, but I don't believe that was won on the performance alone)

Stritch (in the Special Event Category) - does that count?

Rivera was nom'd for Dancer's Life.

Another (and better) one: in 2006 Lisa Kron was nominated for playing Lisa Kron in Well.

That would be the the closest example because both Well and Everday Rapture were written by, and inspired by the lives of, their stars.

"Up the Ladder to the Roof" was my favorite song from the show. The three girls nailed the song and I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks after the show. I really hope it stays in the show (and the show happens!)

Too bad CZJ won't get her Tony. At least not this year. But Sherie deserves it. I really don't think this has much of a chance of winning Best Musical though (although it was one of the best musicals I saw last season).

I wonder if Sherie will thank Megan Mullally in her Tony acceptance speech. :)

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."
