I absolutely adored this show. This would be fantastic!
Agreed, this would be fantastic!
Well this could certainly shake things up! Would love to see this go through!

I hear they're courting Cameron Diaz to play "Sherie."

It's about time we hear anything from "Everyday Rapture"s transfer to Broadway. I hope they stick with everyone from off-Broadway loved eamon foley :)
The house is way too big for an intimate show like this, but whatever...
I would love if this came true, I loved the show off Broadway!
This would really spice up this year in the New Musical realm.
I'd really like to see rapture. Sherrie was great at second stage
I originally saw the show on a whim. However, I loved every second of it. I do think that it might just work. I do feel that Scott has the ability to play to a bigger house. However, I think it might be a bit tough due to the fact that Kitt and Mayer have not only been involved with this show, they are also involved with American Idiot. I wonder if that might cause some problems with the overlap.

LOVE this show! Would be trilled if this were true...
Would love it this could happen.
Also...the New York Times continues it's sloppy spiral with:
...in his New York Times review, Ben Brantley called it “one of the year’s most extravagantly entertainment new musicals”
huh?
would it be able to open in time for Tony consideration??
I hear they're courting Cameron Diaz to play "Sherie."
Really? I would much rather see Sherrie do it herself.
I wonder if the producers of American Idiot would be happy with Mayer and Kitt working on a competing musical at the same time (one that could take nominations or awards from Idiot). Though I think this could go in pretty quickly. And American Idiot seems pretty frozen at this point (allowing Mayer and Kitt to work on Rapture while Idiot is still in previews). Still, I think that this would be a great choice (and get Roundabout some Tony nominations).
I know nothing about the content of EVERYDAY RAPTURE except that it does not have original music...correct? So both EVERYDAY RAPTURE and AMERICAN IDIOT would not be competing in the Best Score categories...

I would LOVE for this to happen! I saw Rapture with my mom at Second Stage and we both had a blast!
Rapture does not have an original score, no.
If this happens, it will certainly shake up the Best Actress and Best Musical categories.
AMERICAN IDIOT would not be competing in the Best Score categories...
I believe the AI producers are aiming for a "The Whos' "Tommy"" situation citing that the cd was written as a rock opera...
There is one big thing between the scores of American Idiot and Tommy. And, that is that the score for Tommy was not 100 per cent music form the original 1969 album. Townshend wrote two songs just for the Broadway production.
American Idiot's score uses music that has been released before. Granted the score consist of songs from the album American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown as well as some B-Sides. However, the entire score has been out and people have heard it before in some form or fashion.
I think that the reason why Tommy won for best score was on a technicality. Jukebox musicals or revue's cannot win best score. However, the score for Tommy was not entirely a jukebox score and that those two songs prevented it from being a full fledged jukebox musical. Whereas, American Idiot had no new songs just for the show itself.
If this happens, Scott has the Tony in the bag IMO. Whether or not the show would be deemed strong enough in itself to win Best Musical is questionable but 90% of the reason this show works so well is Scott herself. She was first-rate at Second Stage and I'm sure will amp up the volume even more if the show transfers this season.
I absolutely loved CZJ in NIGHT MUSIC but I would vote for Scott in a heartbeat (based solely on her performance at 2ST).
If this were to open in time for Tony eligibility, this may just be the jolt this dull season needs. It would be a game changer for sure.
