What’s with people smuggling outside food? I know but security does not have time to go throughly through by everybody’s bags but this week I had one of my seat neighbours bring in a noisy bag of M&m s from the flagship store and another smuggled in a bag of McNuggets and crunched the bag every time she had one. The worst part about the latter? After the show I saw her going in at the stage door because she was a guest of someone on the cast.
Well, when I saw the horrible Roundabout revival of The Cherry Orchard, two 20-something girls sitting next to me were gnawing popcorn the entire show. It was already a torture to have to sit through that not so funny travesty on stage; and not being able to retire to a more satisfying world in my head due to the cacophony only adds more misery to an already miserable night.
Just because a theatre is selling drinks and snacks doesn't mean you're obligated to participate. Do you buy all the merch too?
I'm fine with eating or drinking at intermission. Just finish it in time. If it's a loud(ish) show and you need something, open/consume it during applause or a raucous number.

They sat down in the front row.Sometime during the performance one of the ladies placed her soda on the ledge in front of her. Evidently at some point she was unable to reign in her enthusiasm for what was happening on stage and moved in such a way causingthe soda to fall from the ledge and splashing onto an unsuspecting patron seated in the orchestra section below. Minus the scream from me, this happened to me at a performance of Once a couple of years ago. This person at least had the courtesy to close the cup before they dropped it on me, so it was only a small splash.
