From what I understand, the lotto for DRS hasn't been that huge. Yet. I'd guesstimate a 30 person average per show? Maybe more?

It's very exciting for me to read these great reviews of DRS! So far just about everyone has agree with the rave review I posted here way back in September. I have selfish reasons for wanting this show to be a hit. First, so that I can finally hear the songs again on an OBC recording. I've already had to wait too long! And second, so that it will still be running the next time I make it to New York, hopefully in September. Long Live the Scounrels!!!

Saw the show last night and I have to admit it's been quite a while since I was so totally impressed. If the audience reaction was any indication, buy your tickets now because once the reviews come out and word of mouth continues - this will be a show with long ticket lines!!
Everything about this show was perfection. While Norbert Leo Butz steals the show (his opening number is hysterical), the entire cast was excellent and was made to work with each other - not to mention that everyone looks as if they're having the times of their life. Some of Jerry Mitchell's best choreography yet, the sets to the costumes were beautiful and can't overlook the music - while the music sounds somewhat familiar (shades of The Full Monty), the lyrics are clever AND funny. So much so, that you miss much of it because of the audience laughing over them. Great book, not a dull or slow moment. When the curtain came down I found myself wanting more!

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

If they have to cut something from the show, I think the beginning of the second act (where they reenact the last line of the first act 3 X), could be cut to two times.
I hardly ever laugh out loud but this show is hysterically funny.

I can't stop telling people how perfect this show is. If you thought The Producers was funny...
I can't wait for the reviews to come around. I hope they're as good as it deserves.

I hated "the Producers." This is so much funnier.

When Lithgow makes his initial entrance, the audience erupts into spontaneous (and long) applause. It dwindles slightly when Joanna Gleason makes her entrance. NL Butz receives a warm welcome upon his entrance - however, when he takes his solo curtain call the audience goes wild - more so than with Lithgow (who is also VERY good).
Like I said earlier, it's very rare for me to see a show that impresses me as much as this did. It's fresh, funny, cohesive and after almost 3 hours you think you've been sitting for half that. I'm hoping that the reviewers see what the audience did the night I went!

Yeah, I think I said before I wish Nobert had gotten entrance applause, but you can sense that a few people are like "oh, yay, Norbert!!" but aren't active about it. I wanted to start the applause for him, but I'm too shy.
I loved how wild people went for him at curtain, though. People were talking about him at intermission; this is going to make him such a star.

What about Sara Gettlefinger? How was she?

Her part isn't very big, but she's hysterical too. GREAT voice.

Sara's role is a fairly small one, one song/scene in the first act. She's an incredible talent, althought really under utilized. Her scene and song is to primarily set up Butz's second hysterical number "What About Ruprecht." I would have loved to see (and heard) more of her - she does have a powerful voice.

The way you're all raving, does this mean there's a Dirty Rotten Tony on the way?
Will be seeing in March, and I'm counting down the days.
