While I think this show would be welcomed on Broadway this or next season as it really is a fresh, enjoyable production, I just feel it could struggle on Broadway unless it was put into a small theatre (Jacobs, Booth, Cort) as it really isn’t a big production.
I watched the filmed live version (there are cough ways to see it cough cough) and it definitely had heart, but I don't see this doing well on Broadway. It'd be a hit off-Broadway, but does that even count as a success anymore? It's depressing that there doesn't seem to be a financial model for that to work these days.
Is there an official "cast" recording -- I bought the recording available on iTunes and it's really a concept album. Just curious -- I loved the show and would love to see it transfer

Hi they released a cast recording recently over here in the UK, not sure about US.
It confused the hell out of my Apple Music but eventually sorted itself out.

I’m an American visiting London for a few days & I saw this last night. I’d say I liked it, but didn’t adore it. Several of the performances are excellent, especially Rebecca McKinnis as Jamie’s Mum Margaret and Lucie Shorthouse as his friend Priti. I thought John McCrea was funny and touching as a Jamie, although as someone else here mentioned, his voice did sound a little weak. I also thought that he might not be able to play a 16-year-old much longer.
The choreography stood out to me; I thought it was great. I did have issues with the score. Some of the songs were light and fun and some, like Priti’s songs, were touching. But then I also felt that the song “He’s my Boy,” although McKinnis sang it beautifully, could have had way better lyrics. I was sitting there thinking “she needs better material.” I had some reservations about Dear Evan Hansen (which this reminded me of in terms of the mother/son dynamics) but So Big/So Small delivered much more of a powerful punch for me.
I also found parts of the ending pretty unrealistic based on what had been going on throughout but I won’t say more as I don’t want to spoil anything.
I do think it could easily transfer to Broadway as it is with a few tweaks to make some of the slang and references understandable to Americans (or maybe just a glossary in the program) ??
I should finish by saying that the audience LOVED it. Immediate standing ovation.
They announced on their social media pages today that they have an exciting announcement tomorrow. I'm wondering if this means it will be shown in cinemas internationally, or if it will make the jump to Broadway.

Came here to ponder the same thing! People in the comments on their Instagram are saying they hope it's another cinema screening or a DVD, but I really don't think they would do that when the show still has potential for a transfer. At the same time, I don't think they'd be coming in for the 18-19 season, plus the show could use a lot of work, but maybe they'll announce something for next season.
Michelle Visage is going to be o the cast for a few months.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I was hoping that Broadway would be the announcement, but I assume the "news" is about Michelle Visage joining the cast. Now I want a Broadway transfer WITH Michelle Visage!

Wow Vicky Vox is Little Shop and now Michelle Visage in Jamie. Great to see London theatre opening up to them.
I think the casting of Michelle could bolster a broadway transfer. The Drag Race fans would give it a good run. Bianca has sold out huge theatres in UK Ireland and across Europe the last few months.
I'd love to see Vicky move into Jamie too, Vicky would be amazing as Loco Chanelle.
I'm thrilled for Michelle Visage. She's such a huge fan/supporter of Broadway/theatre in general. This is a perfect show for her!

This is so exciting! I was hoping for a transfer before, but I'm really crossing my fingers now. If it transferred with Michelle Visage, it would 100% get a big push from RPDR fans. Many of whom love musical theater, anyway.

Not sure that is a group that would need convincing, since it is already a musical about a boy who wants to be a drag queen..
I would still love to see it come over, so I wonder if they're going to see how the show is received in movie theaters before planning a Broadway transfer.

That paired with Michelle being in it would push people even more, I think.

I love Michelle, but if I were a potential investor and getting more people to come to a show hinged on gays coming to see Michelle Visage, not sure I could write that check. When you're stunt casting out of the gate...
Unless this is her real background and I'm completely unawares.

True. She can sing and rap (or at least she could in the 90's). I'm not sure of her acting abilities.
