Many mourned the cut reprise of the title song (removed the weekend before I saw the show at a Wednesday matinee preview). Did it add? I thought the ending was somewhat less than satisfying; perhaps there was a subsequent fix..

Let's try this again:

Digital release is tomorrow. Please refer back to the first post on this thread for a video of Carmen Cusack performing "How?" at a virtual concert she gave in late 2020. It's a gorgeous song... what is its context?

"

"How?" is performed in act 2 after Carmen Cusack's character visits her mother in heaven. It is a song about loss and asks how it one to move on from grief and loss. It is one of the most beautiful songs in the show along with the title song.

I took How as grief but also the LSD has given her this surprising cathartic agnostic moment. She took the drug intending to connect with her past probably in more of a faith based way and it forces her to reckon with an existential crisis.

I've listened through it twice already - I'm in love. Never cared so much for Kitt - but this!! Oh wow! Korie also did a wonderful job on the lyrics. I kept tearing up which never happens to me on a first listen of anything. Astonishing. Everyone involved should be proud. God I wish I could've seen this show.

When I saw the show, a middle preview, the final title song reprise had been cut. And here is a finale that I didn't see, which uses the melody nicely. Was it restored? Or was this new and added quite late?

The recording is exquisite. Let's toast Michael Starobin for the orchestrations. Elegant and evocative as in the theater.  The score still sounds like Maury Yeston to me. Not a bad thing.

The album is delightful. I just wish they had included a detailed synopsis in the digital booklet. There is an essay which briefly describes the show, but since most of us listening likely didn’t get to see the show, a more detailed synopsis of the action would have been helpful.
