OKLAHOMA
The overture itself is so beautiful (and corny and camp but who cares?) and the entr'act with "The Farmer and The Cowman" in it is so 1940's. My father told me that with a show like Oklahoma and On The Town when you hear the entr'acts you should put them in context and remember all the kids who saw these shows before shipping off to war, or back to Europe or off to the Pacific and the music takes on another dimension. Oklahoma was a must see for anyone coming into New York in 44 and 45, and I geuss it was the only show alot of those guys ever saw...
Now try and think of it in any other light.... dang....

It is pronounced on-trah-akt with the emphasis on the first syllable and the second syllable slurred in. Like ontruh-akt. BTW it is french for between acts

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

The one that immediately popped into my head was South Pacific. Just gorgeous. Even if you think the show is boring, you have to admit that the music is beautiful.
I also love Beauty and the Beast and Cabaret.
