Posted: 2/5/06 at 10:38pmNatasha Richardson's performance of it onstage in the revival of CABARET is by far the best take on the song I've ever seen.
re: Favorite Rendition of 'Maybe This Time'#2
Posted: 2/5/06 at 10:39pmMB beat me to it.

um...Liza Minelli. lol- You can't beat it! I'm not even going to think of the others.

Posted: 2/5/06 at 10:39pmOn stage, yes, Natasha Richardson. However, vocally, you can't get any better than Liza.

Not the best, but I do give props to Teri Hatcher when I saw her in LA.
If I may say the worst was Melina Kanakarides on Regis one morning.

Posted: 2/5/06 at 10:55pmDidn't Meredith Viera butcher the song on THE VIEW? Or was that another helpless song from CABARET?
re: Favorite Rendition of 'Maybe This Time'#10
Posted: 2/5/06 at 10:56pmI have never seen a live performance of the song and I know we are supposed to take her out of the equation . . . but no one can out-do Liza vocally.

Posted: 2/5/06 at 11:05pmI love Maria Friedman's rendition on the 1999 studio recording. But I'm sorry - I can't take Liza out of the equation! She is simply the absolute best.

Favorite of the women who have played Sally: Susan Egan, no contest. That woman has a GORGEOUS set of pipes.
Favorite ever: Adam Pascal's, sung at Joe's Pub last November. Surprising. Unexpected. Maybe a little out of place, but BEAUTIFUL.

Heh, Em, I knew that was coming.
I've only heard Minelli's, Egen's, and Richardson's renditions, and Richardson's was my favorite. Her voice, while very imperfect, fits the song wonderfully.

Posted: 2/5/06 at 11:11pmI never expected it! It's one of my favorite songs ever, and suddenly, he was singing it with a Fender. It was one of the only times I've actually let out an audible squeal.
