I have a video from my crappy Kodak Easyshare perspective, but it doesn't really do it justice. To see old ladies and little kids build into 300 people, doing a dance to a song you wrote. Can't wait for the edited video to emerge.
I was there for a "press event," having dinner with some fans as part of some sweepstakes. I was totally surprised. Thanks to the Pantages and Flash Mob USA, and all of y'all who learned all that. Aight. Gotta go do Act Two. Thanks again!"
Yes, they were organizing it forever. It's a flash mob. It didn't just happen. But from the beginning we were all told that it was a surprise for Lin-Manuel and to keep the information close to the chest. Hell, we didn't even know where the flash mob was going to be until two days before it happened.

I have tears streaming down my face. That was awesome.

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
Yes, we found out two days before that they would be offering us a ticket. A very nice gesture of appreciation indeed! The voucher turned out to be for either this Tues-Thurs or next Tues-Thurs. First come, first served... in other words, redeem it before the show is sold out! My friend and I are going next week.
Today we have an example of a great Flash Mob (96,000) and a truly awful one. The tall guy in the front...did he show up for any rehearsals? Uh

I participated in the flash mob! It was one of the best experience of my life. You can even see me in the picture if you know it's me and look really hard. Haha!
I learnt the choreography through a Youtube video but there were a few rehearsals ahead of time and then one on the day of the event at a park near Citywalk. :)
Jennafan, the practices were initially held at the lobby of the Pantages theater before the show was running. Eventually, it moved to a larger space. The final practice was held at a park near Universal Studios.
Interestingly enough, a lot of people seemed to know each other from past flash mobs and I got the sense that there is this sub culture of people who make a hobby out of doing these things. In otherwords, I think that a lot of those people were "regulars" who may not have even known what ITH was until this event. For those people, I think their loyalty is with Flash Mob America's mission to surprise and not the actual event they are dancing for.
Sure there were a lot of fans who found out about this and danced for the first time, but speaking as one of them, the fun was in seeing Lin's reaction and I don't think anyone wanted to spoil that. I suppose that there is a certain amount of risk that someone will spoil it but thankfully it all seemed to work out somehow. Updated On: 6/29/10 at 03:52 PM
