I saw last night's 10pm show (Sunday, Dec 22) & James Monroe Iglehart was in. Also a girl whose name I am forgetting right now. The show was "fire" as the kids say. There was a heckler right at the start calling them facsists because he had to lock up his phone & Iglehart was angry! Heckler was escorted out by security, but gave them plenty to riff on the rest of the night.
If there hadn't been the option to see this at 10pm I don't think I would have bothered seeing it. Leaving, I heard people who were seeing things like the Illusionists later in the week saying that they wished that instead they had tickets to see this again. Don't think it was sold out - there were whole rows empty in the mezzanine.

Last night at the 7pm show the f-word was used only a handful of times, and swear words themselves are usually just filler to get to a punchline or generic intensifiers and glossed over pretty quickly.

I saw the 7pm show on 12/22, politely disagree on Chris Jackson. Maybe he was just off the night you saw him, but he was amazing! He rolled right along with everyone else on stage, no studders or stops. Show was awesome!

I have been reading more Las Vegas news online as heading there for vacation in 2 week's time.

Now that their tour has been completed, Freestyle Love Supreme has announced a residency at The Venetian in Las Vegas starting in November. The link at bottom is to an article from earlier in the week.

Another recent article by the same Las Vegas entertainment reporter mentioned that tickets sales are still way down from pre-Covid levels for a lot of the smaller weekly casino shows. Big names with fewer dates, like Usher, have sold out, but small shows aren't doing as well.

Not sure if it was in his column or elsewhere that I read that the opening of a show featuring Cee-Lo Green at the Westgate (way off the Strip, but on the monorail line) was only about half full, and reportedly nearly 70% complementary tickets. The show - a hip hop show with revolving performers (Cee-Lo wasn't scheduled for all dates) has now been cancelled.

The Venetian is a better location. I said here in 2019 that I only saw FLS in NY because they had a 10pm show. I popped out of my aisle seat at To Kill a Mockingbird at curtain & hustled next door. The night I saw it James Monroe Iglehart was the guest. I don't see a Las Vegas residency getting many big name guests. Maybe the "Straight from Broadway" branding they are using will help them initially. It is a cliche, but only time will tell if they can draw an audience

There are currently many magic & variety act shows on the Strip in LV, but not a great deal of comedy or improv. I know my mood right now is I'd rather see comedy over something more serious. On a night I had open during my upcoming trip, I passed on seeing Bat Out of Hell at full price, & got discount tickets for the comedy magician Piff the Dragon, who made his name in America's Got Talent. His YouTube videos sold me, and I'm hoping it won't just be all the same jokes live.
