I saw the Frozen 2 teaser this morning on YouTube. Doesnt provide much excitement except Anna and Elsa have aged a bit which is wonderful. Anyone else want to share their thoughts?
Animation-a solid 10/10. Honestly, the animation has gotten so good that everyone's been saying it looks like a video. I agree. Music-Gives an epic feel, which I hope we ACTUALLY get in this one. Design-The girls got different looks and I love it.
I honestly have had a sequel story in my head since before they even announced a sequel. It doesn't seem like they went that direction, and frankly I'm not sure how interested I am in this otherwise. I honestly can't see why this needed a sequel other than the one I had in my head that actual could expand on the universe we know, which is the whole point of what sequels should do. If a plot can't expand on the original without feeling forced, then don't do it.
I was skeptical about this sequel at first. But it should happen because the two sisters were beginning to reconnect by the original’s end. I know it sounds crazy but I think this is the only way to make at least some of us here happy.

It's the highest grossing animated film of all time, $$ is what produces sequels unfortunately. That being said I thought the first one was very well done, not highest grossing ever worthy but a great original Disney animated hit. The teaser has me intrigued, likely will catch it streaming sometime.

But did anyone else think that the rock Elsa climbs is Ariel's rock from The Little Mermaid? Nope? Oh well."
I'll have to rewatch the trailer as I didn't notice this but Disney does this type of thing all the time. Rapunzel and Eugene made a cameo in the original Frozen movie as coronation guests. Aladdin's carpet was in Princess and the Frog. I could go on.
As for the trailer, I'm excited. I like the new looks and the brief bit of score we heard. Glad the same team is working on this. I'm not even going to venture to guess what the plot is about based on a 2 minute trailer but I did notice a lot of Fall scenes. The new girl that was shown seems to resemble the 2 sisters but she could be anyone really. I'll be excited once the Disney theme parks start doing extended previews of this as they should be about 10-12 min long and give a better picture. But the studio has a full slate this year so I don't expect any in-park preview until September at earliest.
I'm hopeful we also get an Anna-Kristoff wedding in this one. We've had the full Frozen movie and 2 Frozen shorts now so I think enough time has passed for this to happen.
I'm curious to see how this impacts Broadway. If this is successful, will they retool the show? Develop a sequel show? Time will tell.
I thought I was getting a little burnt-out by Frozen with how quickly they were coming out with new material between the original movie, the shorts (which I haven't actually seen), and the Broadway show, but I have to say, this teaser has me really intrigued and I can't wait to see what they have in store. Definitely a very exciting trailer overall imo
That being said, I wonder if there's material in the shorts that will be referenced in the sequel.
The animation for the waves looked truly fantastic, but the character animation kinda sucked. It's been a minute since I've seen the first Frozen, but Elsa just looked so plastic and cheap and fake. After seeing the mind-blowing animation in Moana, it kind of took me out of it.

I wouldn't think they would retool the show at all. Aladdin and The Lion King both have sequels and neither were re-tooled. Tarzan and The Little Mermaid also had sequels. Those were all direct-to-video and this is a theatrical release, but I don't know that it matters.

I feel like it was about Elsa trying to find their dead parents? Don't know why else she would be in front of a sea/ocean otherwise. Either that, or she's inventing surfing which I'd also watch.

I was prepared to be disappointed but ended up loving this trailer. Agree with above comments that it has an epic feel and vibe. I love the updates to their looks, especially Anna's. And I am loving the hints that it will have to do with Fall because that's basically an entirely new visual palette/world. I hadn't considered it before, but another Frozen movie that takes place all in snow would feel repetitive (though I recognize that may sound weird, given that it's called....Frozen.
Honestly? It was such a welcomed surprise. I didn't expect to love the teaser as much as I did, especially since the first teaser for Frozen was pretty bland.
The animation also looks amazing! I just hope Disney has a good story to go along with all of that.
