Not a surprise
I think the producers, much like those for The Last Ship, thought Vanessa's popularity would carry it for awhile. They had not figured on the savage reviews it got.
As far as closings, "The Beat Goes On".

We all saw it coming, they were probobly waiting until after the Tony's, just so they could perform, but they had to see it coming.
But let's hope this is the end of Vanessa Hudgens on Broadway. I am sorry but I agree with the reviews "She sounds like a Disney Princess on helium, especially when she sings the "Parisans, and litterally MOOS during the song".
I also found out that the previous production of Gigi was ALSO opened less than three months on Broadway.
I wish Newsies was still open ![]()

Could Victoria Clark end up playing Golde in Fiddler on the Roof this fall?

Guess it won't be long until ISBY posts their notice. Such a shame but cannot say that I am surprised.

Vanessa is still quite young (all of 26) and in the right vehicle I think she could do well. While she wasn't the ideal GIGI she was the least of the show's problems. Everything about this musical seemed slapped together and the book had serious issues to say the least.

So unfortunate! I adored the show in DC and I luckily will get to see it days before it closes.

Sad to see Gigi go - it was a fluffy, bubbly, and fun show. I thought Vanessa was delightful, and I hope she finds her way back to the stage again in the future.

Pinto,
I will explain.
Some people, when confronted with actual facts and numbers, don't pay attention and continue saying and doing stupid things out of some pathological inability to admit they were wrong about something.
You should be able to understand this.

Hogan, you obviously have no idea what i was saying when talking about Honeymoon in Vegas. I never denied the fact that they were losing money, but they had things ahead of them. On the Town doesn't really have anything left after the Tonys.

Anyone really surprised?
Nederlander's were dumb another to ship this into Broadway, even before it got reviewed in Washington, where it got panned, they would of been wiser to of gone with. Brigadoon from Chicago.

Awe, it was such a cute show. Shame that so many actors are a losing a job, too. I would love to see Victoria as Golde in FIDDLER.

It did not "extend," they just released more tickets. That means nothing other than fishing to find out if there is interest in the show past the summer.
