Yay! So happy about this! The film and Broadway recordings are both surprisingly bad quality, and I would love a nice recording, especially with this great cast.

Always nice to have a new recording of a classic score! And to have the revised score preserved.
I've actually listened to the OBC more over the years than the soundtrack. Perhaps this new version will eclipse both!
(What record label is that though??)
I really don't know. I tried looking them up and I found almost nothing. They seem to be rather new. I don't think they have done a cast recording before, but the producer of the album has done good work before (Passing Strange cast album, new Side Show album etc.)
I hope they're able to hire extra musicians for the recording.
How many musicians are in the pitt now?
Playbill vault says 11
3 Woodwinds
1 French Horn
2 Trumpets/others
1 Trombone
1 Percussion
1 Violin
1 Cello
1 Bass
At the very least, they should bump up the strings section to 10

Wow that's quite a pitiful size for the gloriousness of Lerner & Loewe.

good but what about the cast cd for holler if you hear me that needs one I know it is colesd but it should have one all shows should have a cast cd made.
^Which also didn't happen with Lestat, Cry-Baby, and After Midnight.
You know the reason Bryan. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ If they can't get enough folks in the door to have a decent run, they don't have the money to spend on a recording.
Plain and simple.

^ Yeah but Leap of Faith still got a cast album and that show ran for like two weeks.
Well, there are always exceptions.
Gee, and I was "lucky" enough to sit through it! (Ugh.)

Never heard of DMI Records, and the info at the link makes DMI appear to be the provider of background music in stores. ?????
As for Holler If Ya Hear Me, sources assure us that contrary to earlier rumor it was never recorded.
I just hope it ends up on Spotify so I don't have to shell out the cash to buy it (other than my monthly Spotify fee), but if it isn't there, I'll just end up buying it.

I think this link will show more of DMI's services.

Actually PURCHASING a product is how you support the arts. If you are excited enough to want the cd, you should be willing to shell out the 20 bucks.
I will stick with the first recording
Bigger orchestra plus Daniel Massey and Alfred Drake.

I liked it. Screw you.
REALLY? For an opinion?? You opened that can of worms.

I'm actually buying my own ticket to the show when I see it, which is much more that twenty dollars. That is how I choose to support the arts. And artists do get money for every time you play a song on Spotify. And I have almost 700 musical theatre albums saved on Spotify, unless you suggest that I buy all 700 of those. And I buy albums all the time with what little money I have. How about I support the arts however I please?
That's really nice, but it's to bad that the orchestra is quite thin. I mean look at THE KING AND I's 29 piece orchestra, that's like a giant beating an ant.
Is there a difference between who is producing the album and who is releasing/distributing it? Would DMI be the producer and someone release it? Cause something like Newsies was produced by Disney and and Sh-K-Boom, but Razor & Tie distributed it, etc.??
Well said Fantod
Orchestra sounds like one for New World Stages. Love listening to my old CD cast albums where an orchestra was a real full throated one and not this excuse for one. Amazing that they are charging full prices for this. Lerner & Lowe are turning over in their graves about now.
Orchestra at Gigi, is 13, not 11. Same size and almost the same instrumentation as at 20th Century. (There are two keyboards in addition to the other 11 players in Fantod's post).
