I was finally able to watch last night's episode. Although certainly not the highlight of the season, it was overall very fun and enjoyable.
Kate Hudson is PERFECTION!
Finally a reunion!! Amber was spectacular, but I wish they would've given one of her songs to Lea. I'm thrilled that Kurt finally got a solo, and I wish Blaine would've had the courage to talk to him about getting back together. I hate to see them not dating.
I know I'll probably get a lot of hate for saying this but, Dame Lea HAS to be Fanny! She was born to play the role.
Wow. I didn't think it was possible but Glee has hit a new low.
The Catfish reveal was so obvious. I mean it was exactly like an actual episode of Catfish. Classic misdirection though. It might have been a little different had they not done the EXACT same thing with the Sue is the shooter...just kidding it was Becky storyline.
Rachel was auditioning for Funny Girl with a FULL BAND backing her? I don't think so.
I had never heard of any of those songs except the Celine Dion song and that "I don't care" song. I'm actually thankful for that because they all sucked @ss.
Don't even get me started on the whole Brittany nonsense because I've never seen a more poorly written character. She's the dumb blonde comic relief who is borderline retarded. Now she's a super genius b!tch that's going to MIT. And they want her to leave high school immediately. Makes perfect sense.
And the less that is said about the gay marriage nonsense the better.
Goodbye Nude Erections. I don't think you'll be seeing me next school year.
Well, I was only able to watch the latter half of the episode, so I can't speak for Dame Lea's audition, though I'm sure she was fabulous.
I will say the regionals percormances were surprisingly weak this year. I only liked wings.
Brittany's character is quite complex, and her going to MIT is classic glee humor. Heather has proved to be an outstanding actress over the course of the series and her farewell scene was heartbreaking.
ClydeBarrow - Guess Brittany got a scholarship because MIT is pretty darn expensive -lol. All of these "Glee" kids must have wealthy parents.
"Brittany's character is quite complex, and her going to MIT is classic glee humor"
IMO - it is not classic humor, it is just totally stupid, unbelievable and or lame.
Totally agree, yankeefan. This isn't some complexly written character. It's whatever the writers want to turn her into at the moment. Just like everyone else on the show. It's not like "look at Brittany getting into MIT, that's sooooo hilarious. Classic Glee!"

Even after what happened last summer, the show is continuing to drop in ratings. It's premiere had an estimated 2.0 18-49 rating, which is down sharply from the season 4 premiere which had a 3.1 18-49 rating. More and more people are starting to realize that it is not a very well-written show anymore.

I can't decide if this first Beatles episode or LET IT BE was more interminable.
I'm probably in the (vast) minority now, but I found last night's episode rather charming. The Kurt/Blaine storyline is unrealistic and more than a little silly. But that didn't stop me grinning like a giddy fangirl during their two numbers and especially the proposal. And during Rachel's "Yesterday", the line "Why he had to go/ I don't know/ He couldn't stay" just about broke my heart, knowing the double meaning in real life. Off air, I was actually quite impressed by the ad for the Finn/Cory tribute episode- simple and surprisingly restrained.
On another note, I'm curious- I promise, I'm not trying to step on toes or make waves, but I am wondering- how the "Glee appreciation" thread has become home to a lot of negativity. I thought I remembered two Glee threads- this one for fans, the other for more criticism? Or do I remember wrong?

bwayrose7 - First, the line you mentioned in "Yesterday" is taken out of context. The very next verse is "I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday". This is about a "couple" possibly breaking up and not a tragic loss of life. I understand some people would look at it the same as you do and that is fine but just pointing out the "original" meaning of the song IMO. BTW - I am a huge McCartney fan and nobody can come close to the original recording of this song.
As for criticism, any thread started on these boards is open for criticism even if the intention is to express your "love" of a show. I doubt there are many threads that are 100% positive about the subject of the thread.
I like the fact that in GLEE-land, a multi million dollar revival of a show books a theater without having cast its lead star.
yankeefan7- Thanks for answering my question- I've been a member for a while but don't spend a ton of time around here, so I'm never quite sure about the etiquette of stuff like that.
And I agree- no one can ever match the original recording :)
I'm not really a huge fan of the Beatles, but I though the episode was delightful. Yesterday just was heartbreaking, I feel like Lea has grown so much. Did anyone else find her more organic in this last episode?
And of course that proposal was glorious!! I almost teared up a bit... Even thought I still believe they're too young to get married.
"I'm not really a huge fan of the Beatles"
And with that, you proved everyone right.
I think the number of people who watch glee BECAUSE they don't like it is probably larger than the number of actual non-ironic fans at this point.
Why can't we stop? It's like Funyuns.
It's not that I don't like them, I certainly love a lot of their songs, but I was furious when they topped Michael Jackson on the Vh1 list of the Greatest artists of all time.

Wow. I think Jordan's response says it best, "Um......"
Also, what does GLEE have to do with Broadway? This should be moved to the Off-Topic Board.

And who would be one of the biggest supporters of that? Michael himself

Jordan - Even "Bombshell" and "Hit List" had their "star" before booking theatre - lol
