The film noir from Billy Wilder which is always among the top in the American Film Institute list of favorites over the years!

Thanks for sharing!  A very good interview. I do wish she would have commented on the ALW musical, and the plans to make his musical into a movie. I wonder what her thoughts are on that. 

I have to say, LuPone looked beautiful remoting into Andy Cohen's show last night. Can't believe she's 71 years old.

Right?! Saw the tidbit about Glenn crashing their table and Patti's response to Jon Hamm. Can anyone tell me ...what's the tea on Patti and Glenn? I understand it was SB related, yes?

Quickly, LuPone did the World Premiere in London of SUNSET BLVD.  She was also contracted to open the show on Broadway.  Glenn Close starred in the American Premiere of the musical in Los Angeles.  That was to be her only involvement.  Close received raves which prompted ALW to change his mind on LuPone opening the Broadway production so he offered it to Close.  LuPone was obviously upset as she was legally contracted for Broadway.  She promptly quit the London production (trashing her dressing room with a lamp), and thus began her legal battle with ALW and her disgust of all things SUNSET BLVD, including Close.

I think it does stop a lot. Especially the level of longevity, the level of standing test of time and the flow of money it makes in the long run.

True, the clap-cattle will watch nearly anything that comes out, when it comes out (including me, I have watched Aladdin, Les Mis all in the cinema), but I also have no interest in ever hearing or seeing it again in my lifetime.

In comparison, I still watch and listen to Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music every year.

I have high hopes for Spielberg's West Side Story, that might be a game changer.

After Netflix’s HOLLYWOOD and watching LuPone shine so fabulously, I wouldn’t be surprised she snakes this SUNSET BLVD. away from Close. She simply radiates off the screen and can definitely pull off a 50 year old Norma with a little CGI de-aging sweetening. No need to worry about the vocals — LuPone’s voice is as strong as when she played EVITA at age 30. Plus, the redemption factor is delicious. Ryan Murphy has the magic touch for this.

Plus she's simply not a big enough name to sell it. People here tend to forget that movies are made to cash in money not just in the States or the UK, but in a huge non English speaking world where no one has ever even heard of her. Glenn Close is surely not as big as she was in the 90s, but she's a recognizable name and a multiple Oscar nominated actress. LuPone never had a leading role in a movie and they surely won't start by casting her as the protagonist of a star vehicle.
