Glenn Close wants to start 'Sunset' movie by the end of this year

 I hope she's right about this. Last we heard was a year ago, when they found a director, and it was supposed to start filming 6 months ago. Now she's saying the end of this year. She's going to age out of the role if we wait much longer.

This really needs to happen. Glenn is marvelous and I hope this comes to fruition.

This has been talked about before but here we go again. She's a few years to late on this party. She is great in the role but even she is to old for the part now unless they change up the timeline here. A big part of this plot and really anytime we address "old" women in that era of Hollywood (looking at YOU all the recently popular pop culture interest in Bette Davis and Joan Crawford) is that these "old" women were... really not THAT old. There is a line right in the score, "There's nothing wrong with being 50 unless you are acting 20" as well as mention of her being a teenager in her early silent movies. Close is 73 and it shows.

And I'll be the one to say it as well, IF we are going to remake this movie and IF we are going to have an actress in her 70s playing an actress in her 50s... I'd rather see Meryl tackle this role than Close.

You need to embrace the fact that the characters are singing, something that Rob Marshall is hesitant to do. Both Chicago and Nine he had to come up with those framing devices to justify the singing and the only reason he allowed the characters in Into the Woods to sing was because it was a fairy tale world so reality didn't matter. I don't know that I'd trust him to trust the material in Sunset Boulevard. 

While Rob did indeed use the "framing device" for both Chicago and Nine, at this point of his career, he's done two musicals in a row (soon three with The Little Mermaid) where he didn't need it. I'm making a wild guess here that he may have realized that after Nine failed big time that he has dropped the idea of "framing devices" in the films he's involved in and just allows the musical genre be the genre it is. But that's my guess.
