First off, Amneris. You're Matt Cavanaugh pictures. I would GREATLY appreciate it if you would email them to me at TheLFiveYears@aol.com. I love Matt Cavanaugh and now that he's going on tour, he will know exactly how much when he sees me wearing the I LOVE MATT shirt, with the matching ballcap, and sign.
Secondly, Sophia's already got one song! Remember:
Thanks.......for the medicare
Blue Cross, and Blue Shield.
(something, something I forgot the middle)
We thank you so much.......
What'd you think?
Dorothy: Aweful
Blanche: Depressing
Rose: Stinky

I remember that Episode...that was hysterical. And remember the Miami song, and the play "The Sky is Falling," or the one where Rose and Blanche tap dance. I'm sorry I used to be addicted to that show.
They could re-enact their rendition of Turkey Lurkey (or whatever that story was). Oh no, the sky is falling! LOL
My friend was talking to Rue McLanahan at the Tony party the other night and said she was totally sloshed (nice word for drunk) and hitting on some very young men....sounds like the Blanch inside reaching out.
If you know the words to the Miami song, I will be impressed. I loved the tap dancing episode.
OK, trivia time: Who was to be the fifth Golden Girl as per the final season?

The Fifth Golden Girl per the final season? huh? I know when Dorothy was to be remarried to Stan, Debbie Reynolds was going to move in.
I have to say what I feel
Miami has so much appeal
Its a great place to get a seafood meal
Miaaaaaamiiiii
(dun nun dun nun nun nun boo!)
Miami Miami Youve got style
Great Skies, Sunshine White sand by the mile

The cream of the crop kids! the top of the line
Miaaaaaamiiiii youve got style!!!!
-------
The sky is falling!
Help! Disaster is near
Help! Were tremblin with fear
Help (Baritone)! The outlook is drear
Were dreadin armageddon
(something something I forgot the middle)
WE MUST GO NOW TO WARN THE KING!!!!!!
My favorite Golden Girls episode is GRAB THAT DOUGH!
Did anyone see "The Golden Palace"? Was that show any good? I heard it wasn't since Bea wasn't there.
Come on people, here we are on a Broadway related forum and nobody has yet to mention teh Golden Girls episode where Rose and Blanche get cast in the community theater production of Cats. The cat costumes looked like they were done by Fredricks of Hollywood
does anybody remember the episode where Blanch and Rose do a talent show and they have those old triplets perform with the guitars? haha... they looked like REALLY old laura bell bundy's
im sorry..im a little too obsessed with this show..i used to watch it all the time at my grandmas house when i was little when she'd watch me...now it's on LIFETIME every night at like 11 or 12.

Yeah, that's when Bob Hope came on at the very end being an old navy buddy of Sophia's Boyfriend. Rose thought he was her biological father the entire time.
Anyone remember the one episode when Dorothy says
Shady Pines Ma!......
Shady Pines Rose!.....(Rose: This really shouldn't work on me)

The guitar playing triplets are The Delrubio Triplets. They've done lots of guest appearnaces on tv shows becuase they are so bad and so campy.

The Delrubio Twins made a guest apperance on Full House. Joey found them for Jesse's night club.
Bad Idea says I! I don't know, but it wouldn't be the same without the original 4 Golden Girls. Nobody could play Dorothy like Bea Arthur! And Rue McClennahan as Blanche...I'd like to see ANYBODY try to fill her shoes! Unless we brought them all back to do it, I doubt it would happen. (And I hope it wouldn't!) But it's pretty cool to picture it if they had proposed that idea in the 80's!
harvey could play dorothy....him and bea do sound a lot alike :)
The originals were great. I cannot see anyone else playing Dorothy, Blanche, Sophia and Rose. One of my favorites was how no one believed Sophia had a date and when they left the house, Julio Iglesia walked in the back door. Or when Burt Reynolds came to pick her up. She was a pistol. I liked when she had those Sicilian stories. She was very believable as an Italian....

The best "Picture It! Sicily (fill in year)" stories are the pepperoni stream story and Frozen Pizza.
That peasant girl was me, and my partner is better known as Mama Celeste!
And then after everyone leaves, she opens the freezer and flicks her off.
OK, that Mama Celeste one is my favorite Sophia reaction! Always has been. And as she flicks the freezer, she says, "Apuganda." or something like that?
You know what I thought was a really sweet episode, when Sophia was volunteering at the hospital, and she gave so much time and energy...and one little boy was very sick, and Sophia made him eat a nectarine to get his strength even though he hated them. And she would go down to the Boardwalk and talk to friends and whatnot. Then, when she came home to her 3 lazy room mates (still in their PJ's), they asked her what she did all day, and she said, "I did what I do everyday. I bought a nectarine."
By the way, good job on knowing Debbie Reynold's was techically the 5th Golden Girl (she lived there for 2 days). lol
Golden Palace was not very good (from what I rememer). You just can't have the Golden Girl's with one of them missing.
OK, what is everyone's favorite thing about each Golden Girl?
Mine:
Rose: her St. Olaf stories
Sophia: her remarks towards Blanche and Rose (especially Blanche)
Blanche: The fact that she bragged about how many men she's slept with and yet didn't think she was a slut (remember when they were mistaken for hookers and Sophia got their concert tickets) lol
Dorothy: her quick wit and mannerisms
Broadway Legend Joined: 12/31/69
Oh yeah, the little boy was HIV+. His name was Frank. Then there was this lady who asked her everyday if there was any mail for her, and Sophia said in a snappy voice there was nothing, but then gave her a flower arrangement cart full of flowers.
Blanche: Her slut-like remarks (I'm as jumpy as a virgin at a prison rodeo)
Dorothy: Her backlashes at Sophia
Sophia: Everything she said. (Youre only gonna sit in an inch of water?)
Rose: Her naivete. (I didn't know it'd make your eyes roll back!)

Did everyone know that originally Betty White was going to play Blanche and Rue was going to play Rose? And then one day they switched and the rest is history.
I'm sorry, but I just cannot picture those two switched...it's just...weird. I'm glad it came out how it did. They were both perfect for their roles (even if they weren't the original parts picked out!)

The show ended because Bea wanted out. I think it should have ended earlier though. I mean, when they were dishing out episodes like when Blanche has a dream about her dead husband coming back to life, it's time to shoot the lame horse. Same thing applies to Designing Women. When Charlene and Suzanne left, it was never the same. Carlene played her part well, but Julia's cousin just wasnt funny or bitchy enough to fill Suzanne's shoes! I thought BJ was great though.
By the way TheaterBaby, I still watch the Golden Girls reruns religiously every night at 11pm on Lifetime (Television for and about women THOSE SEXIST WOMEN! IM A MAN AND I LOVE THAT CHANNEL)so thats why I know some of the songs so well :)

I hope they put the episodes on DVD.
I did actually know that originally Betty was supposed to play Blanche and Rue was supposed to play Rose. I can picture it because Betty was a slutty bitch (pardon my french) on the Mary Tyler Moore Show and Mama's Family, and Rue was a pretty naive character on both Mama's Family and Maude. I'm glad it turned out the way it did, but if it was the other way around, you would be saying, "I coulda never picture Betty as Rose or Rue as Blanche." The show was awesome, but there's only so much story line you can get out of 4 old women living in Florida.
and let's not forget the woman who almost became Dorothy.........
Elaine Stritch.
Made it to the final cut.

And speaking of Elaine Stritch, does everyone remember the pilot that she was in that was based on the play & movie "Steel Magnolias"? It was almost as bad as the pilot for the tv series of "Driving Miss Daisy".
