As a preface, I sadly do not live near New York at ALL, and therefore haven't seen ANY of the shows nominated this year. So yes, I love the Tony Awards (besides the fact that it's rigged and predictable and the performances are rarely a great representation of the show) because where else do you get an uninterrupted semi-staged song?! So no "it's better in the theatre" stuff for me (unfortunately...)
LION KING: B- I did watch Lion King during its tour and had goosebumps during the Circle of Life, but the voices here just didn't work.
IN THE HEIGHTS: B+ I was really excited to watch this performance, but as people have remarked before, it didn't seem as energetic as in the recording. Also, Lin-Manuel Miranda's mike was really turned up, so during all the cool harmony/overlapping parts you could only hear his part

And I know there was nothing the performers could've done about it but still, a bummer.
XANADU: A Cheyenne Jackson and Kerry Butler are amazing

And I loved the over-the-top cheesiness
GREASE: C Well, enough has been said already... but catchy
GYPSY: A Patti LuPone!!! Solid, powerful, but in control...and her speech was awesome :)
SOUTH PACIFIC: A Man, what a cast. Classic theatre
PASSING STRANGE: C Yeah, didn't get it, although I know it's supposed to be great
CRY-BABY: B Loved the dancing (I'm a sucker for the tap-dancing), but besides that not much to hyperventilate about
RENT: B- SO WANTED this to be great, but then there was the random tiny La vie Boheme segment and a weak ending...come on!!! with that kind of cast?!
A CATERED AFFAIR: C I've heard a lot of great things about this musical too, but definitely wasn't a great performance
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN: B No, not a fan of Young Frankenstein, but Megan Mulally REALLY made an impression after the earlier, not-exciting performances
THE LITTLE MERMAID: B- Seriously, HOW MANY TIMES DO THEY THINK THEY CAN KEEP DOING PART OF YOUR WORLD?! Yes, it's a great song, and yes, usually Sierra Boggess does a good job of it, but with Titus Burgess and Sherie Rene Scott, they only always perform one song?!!
SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE: Great voices ( I love english accents :P ) and the picture thingies playing in the back WERE AMAZING!!!!!
and Whoopi Goldberg was awesome too :)
