According to Playbill, there's "talk" about bringing the soon-to-close revival of Guys and Dolls from the West End to Broadway.
I thoroughly enjoyed the production (I saw it pre-Rebel Wilson, with Richard Kind as Nathan) - but is it too soon? ...And reports about Rebel have been decidedly mixed.

Sad to hear it's closing early! I was looking forward to seeing her in it this fall. I saw the revival already in January with Sophie Thompson, Jamie Parker, et. al. I was happy to see it live for the first time, as I've loved the movie since I was a kid. But I found the production to be just...fine. A perfectly suitable production, but nothing special. I would have returned for Wilson, however.

What happened to seeing the one with Jane Kawaoski

If this comes back to Broadway it would be a crime if they didn't get Jane!
I don't think Rebel Wilson is the draw that people think she is. For an off-Broadway show? Sure. But on Broadway with a big budgeted commercial production? Naw. And, from the production photos, it doesn't seem special enough.

I would love to see Guys and Dolls back on Broadway...
No matter who is in the production, it can't be worse than the last revival...

I hope this happens! I just recently got really into musicals and have been reading up on and listening to soundtracks from several classic shows, and Guys and Dolls was one of my favorites I heard. I'm already so sad that so many other shows I loved hearing soundtracks of just did revivals in the last few years, so I missed my chance to see them until I'm old, or if at all, so I'd love to see any other great revivals I can...
10086sunset - What was wrong with the last Guys and Dolls revival?
There's an overall lack of theaters which is forcing some potential new shows to delay or even cancel their planned Broadway runs. I don't what another mediocre production of GUYS & DOLLS taking up a theater, even if it's for only 6 months.

Wickedrocks - as much as I appreciate the answer, that doesn't really answer my question or give me a good enough picture. What exactly did the revival do wrong that caused it to flounder so quickly?
Oak - WickedRocks may not have given a detailed answer about how that completely accurate "everything" applies to the last revival, but it's absolutely true. Oliver Platt and Lauren Graham had about as much chemistry as watching dried paint peel off the wall and it was just horrible watching Graham playing Adelaide as if she were a block of wood with very few inflections or character (which is sad because I feel like the production and Platt (who was just lifeless himself) served her wrong). The design was hideous including what looked like Windows 95 screensavers as projections, all that paired with Titus Burgess and Mary Testa overdoing it to make up for everything else being subpar. The only bright spots for me were Craig Bierko and Kate Jennings Grant as Sky and Sarah respectively who were the complete opposite of Lauren and Oliver - present, charming, and wonderful.
Whenever this production comes up in conversation, I go back to a comment made awhile back in conversation with a friend of mine - "I didn't think you could f*ck up Guys and Dolls until that.."
Let's just say that revival was probably one of the worst musicals ever on Broadway. It should have never happened.
I like it like the next person but to continue to revive the same ones over and over and over again is a bit much. The producers should heed Fiddlers troubles before they decide to bring it this old chestnut to Broadway yet again . I have given up hope that the vast catalog of really fun musicals will ever be revived again.
I love her, but judging from what did on the Graham Norton show, no.
Who does Rebel Wilson play? Big Jule?

If the article is any indication, Rebel Wilson plays Miss Adelaide.
Can't Faith and Nathan just come back? All they need is great makeup and lighting. I loved that revival!

We're already getting the fourth Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly! next year, so we'll see how that does. Of course, that show hasn't been revived on Broadway since 1996 because it was all only a matter of who could step into Carol Channing's shoes.

When did she perform on Graham Norton?

This production was SO great (especially with the previous Adelaide Samantha Spiro, who brought so much I never expected to the part, and with Richard Kind <3 !) so if it transfers, that would be great, but Rebel is the least necessary ingredient in it.

That's the one I saw and totally enjoyed. In May, we saw 10 shows on the West End and Broadway, including blockbusters like Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard, Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl, Audra et al in Shuffle Along, but the two most totally enjoyable, completely rewarding evenings were two perfect revivals, Guys and Dolls and She Loves Me.
...of course, one can't deny that those two are shining examples of musical theater craftmanship.
I do hope Guys and Dolls does return to Broadway ... but not with Rebel Wilson.
Yeah. Saw this in London the other week. It was a fine production but not one that should necessarily come here. Rebel was Rebel and the audience was definitely there to see her do her thing (however unusual it was for an Adelaode interpretation!)
