Time Life is also releasing the 30th Anniversary cd of "ANNIE". It's 2 cd's full of never before recorded musical numbers. It includes 8 numbers from "ANNIE 2"in the original Michael Starobin orchestrations. None of the musical numbers from "Annie Warbucks" are included It's being released May 6th.
As for the new"Gypsy" recording- Time Life will have cut numbers from the Original Broadway production that have been heard or recorded before. There will be somewhere between 4-6 additional songs. They will be fully orchestrated using the current cast. Time Life wants this to be the most complete and comprehensive "Gypsy" on record. It will be recorded during previews and will be out very quickly.
"The Grinch" recording has been held up due to the production. "Ring of Fire" is being released this Tuesday, Feb 26th. It's a 2 cd set. The reason for delay was the Cash Estate.
you made 30.

What a let down. I'm excited that it will be recorded but not excited for how long we'll actually have to wait. I've been waiting for Annie for months and months.
Oh man so excited for the Gypsy Recording!

They're recording The Grinch? How long is that recording going to be? Don't remember there being enough music in that show to add up to a very long recording. maybe 30 minutes?
Well hopefully they'll record lots of dialogue too.
Would they use this year's 'Grinch' cast or the original cast?
"Time Life will have cut numbers from the Original Broadway production that have been heard or recorded before". I'm not following this information....
I'm not understanding how they want to make the "most comprehensive and complete recording" if they are "cutting numbers that have been recorded before". I hope they include the entr'acte, incidental music and bows, but I still don't follow what they mean.

Everything you question will be on the new recording.....Is it clear now?????
There are several numbers that were written for Gypsy, but were cut, either in pre-production or on the road. I imagine they are talking about recording these songs, such as "Nice She Ain't," "Mama's Talking Soft," "Smile, Girls" "Three Wishes for Christmas," and "Who Needs Him?".
Also, I've heard that they plan on recording the "Some People" reprise (also known as "Traveling".) I hope the excellent exit music makes it too.
Yay. Recording the 'Some People' Reprise will be great. Patti's high C at the end is amazing.

It is true all these songs will be on the recording, as well as the "Some People" reprise and "exit music"
Yawn. I will stick to the Peters recording.
The Peters disc, really? I love Peters, but she just doesn't do it for me. Lupone seems a more natural fit for the role.
Some just can't accept that LuPone completely out-sings Peters in the role.
I don't fool myself thinking that Peters "outsings" LuPone, but I'm more into well-acted performances than well-sung performances, and so I much prefer the Peters recording because I find her Rose to be superbly acted and far more layered than the performance I saw from LuPone in the summer (which I loved by the way, but Peters is my number one choice). It really is a matter of opinion.
What I think will make this recording definitive for me though is the supporting cast, starting with Laura Benanti, Boyd Gaines, Leigh Ann Larkin, and Marilyn Caskey.
