Amazon doesn't even say "9-12 days" anymore; it just says "Temporarily out of stock." Amazing.

dramamama (and others who contacted Amazon about the bowing), did you just use the normal form for replacements? are we sure we'll get a copy that lays flat in return?

I didn't contact about bowing.I had a page not sewn in.  Also, I talked to.a rep, instead of just using the form.

Stopped by B&N tonight and they had about seven copies of the book; none had the bowing issue, but instead all of them had it where the back cover didn't quite lay flat against the back of the bound pages; it looked as if the bound pages were just a little bit too thick for the cover to clear, so if you laid it on a table the back cover tilted upward a little from the back of the book.

I'm going to assume that this, and the bowing, are glitches that are going to be fixed in subsequent pressings of the book. Or, they should be, anyway.

I got mine a couple of days ago on Amazon. It's perfect and I am BLOWN away!  This is the most beautifully bound book I have ever had. The pictures and details and the way the page edges are torn is simply amazing. LMM and Jeremy McCarter have created something very very special!  Another bar has been raised!!

My copy did not have any bowing issues. I'm taking my time reading it because I don't wait to be over and I'm seeing the show again next week...it will be my fifth time seeing it....yes I am obsessed.

My book was pre-ordered. It wasn't bowed when I got it, however since the weather has turned dry with So. California Santa Ana winds, the bowing is VERY noticeable.

That being said, the book is $40, a price point that is affordable, but I'm guessing used less expensive materials to get to that price point. It would be counter-intuitive if the point of this book is to make part of the experience available to those that can't access the show due to cost, if the book was then made inaccessible by making it out of more expensive materials that put it at a high price point.

Personally, I would pay more for better materials, but I know what it's like to have to save up $40 to go see or do something that I love, so I'm ok with this for now.

That being said, here are the pictures of my bowed book. Hopefully, when the dry weather goes away, the book will not bow any more.

Three images are posted at the link below. One of them is in this post.

Yes, mine is bowing a little now that I've had it a few days.  I'm waiting to see my replacement, and hope it won't be any worse....and that all the pages are sewn in!

The publisher is already going to a second printing but there's extra lead time required due to the design choices so it won't be a quick turnaround.

Thanks! I wonder if they're going to address any of the issues I've seen, or if those were just isolated cases?  The cover bending away from the back of the book seems to be a design flaw - like they didn't make the spine thick enough.  They could correct that but it would require modifying the design and that can get expensive. Guess we'll see.

Note to those looking at the 4/22 signing at Drama Book! I was at the store today, buying a copy. I just happened to be in town for the day and figured it was the best place to find it.

They have signs up all over the store that you MUST have a recipt FROM DRAMA BOOK STORE for the signing.

I took a picture with the highlighted passage.

So impressed with the quality of this book that I ordered two extra copies before they sold out from Amazon in Canada.

The first copy came in absolute pristine condition with no defects whatsoever. The next two copies which arrived 4 days later had a slight curvature on the front cover in the bottom right-hand corner but the back cover was flush up against the pages. The curvature is so slight that it does not bother me at all. Pages are all intact with none missing and none loose.... All for the amazing price of $27 Canadian!! My god they must be taking a loss on this book at that price! Wondering what it cost to produce such a book with such amazing quality!

Can someone please tell me what the spine of the book is made of because it looks like leather and has such an expensive look about it I'm curious to know what the material is. As well not knowing too much about paper quality I was wondering if somebody could give me some information on the type a paper used in this book and I do find that the picture quality is quite interesting as it is not glossy yet still impresses me very much. Wondering if it is harder to print pictures on this type of paper as well. After I made my second order Amazon and cannot completely sold out of their stock and does not know when they're getting more in.

Our major bookstore chain here in Canada had no copies on the day of release and may be getting some in five weeks time. No wonder I always order off Amazon with their great prices and speedy delivery. I'm still amazed bookstore stay open with the huge amounts of rent they have to pay and limited stock!

As an aside I'm wondering if anybody can tell me why in certain scenes of the Hamilton musical which I saw on Broadway back in January Thomas Jefferson seems to drag his feet as if he has a leg injury. Can anyone help with any info on this ?

Without having the book in front of me, I would guess that the spine is probably some sort of vinyl/cloth combo.  The paper struck me as being pretty close to what we (I work in the industry) call "bond" - a white heavy text weight paper with a "matte" finish.  When you print photographs on bond the blacks don't go as dark as they do on glossy stock (which is what most of these kinds of books are printed on), but you generally can get more detail in your pictures because the ink doesn't spread as much.

Is anyone else having issues with the rough page edges shedding? I'm finding myself having to clean up after this book.

Does anyone know when Amazon might send out some more Hamiltomes? I ordered mine more than a week ago and I still don't have an estimated delivery date.

I would just like to say in addition to the entire book being beautiful and so well done, I LOVE what they did with the chapter about the incredible ensemble.  I love how Miranda and McCarter took the time to identify each ensemble member and recognizing and vividly explaining one moment in the show where they stand out, The contribution to the show is documented forever, and I so much appreciate that. To me, Hamilton's original ensemble is as iconic as the principles and am thrilled that they have received the recognition they deserve and worked so hard for.
