It also appears to be temporarily sold out on Amazon. Or at least, directly from Amazon. They still have it available from other sellers on Amazon. Instead of the usual "Two day shipping" text under the purchase button, it now says "Usually ships within 9 to 12 days" and "Free prime shipping when available." Nice!
So, those who have the book: are the bound pages laying flat between the hardboard covers, or are they bowing? The three copies I saw at B&N today all had the inside pages bowing so the covers didn't lay flat against the pages, and I'm just curious if they're all like that, or if B&N just got a warped shipment. Thank you!
I am so impressed with the attention to detail that went in to put together this book! The pictures are gorgeous! I'm going to take my time reading this. Proud of Lin and all he has achieved. The show is a legend in its own time!

On mine, the front cover seems to be very, very slightly bowed, probably due to the way it's bound and the way the section near the spine lies against the pages. The pages do lie flat against the back though, so I'm not totally sure what's going on with that.
Just ordered it as a surprise for my friend and shipped it to her. Can't wait for her to get it and hear her reactions! She collects souvenir programs from every show she sees, so it's perfect for her -- though neither of us have been able to see the show and it may be eons before we do. Womp womp.
I don't know why I didn't think of doing this during pre-orders so she'd get it today but probably because I knew I didn't want it, so I've been ignoring it.

My book arrived today. The bound pages lay flat, they don't bow. However, the top corner of the back cover is slightly ripped at the edge. I am not sure if this matters to me or not. I think it was the Amazon packaging that squished it. I'm debating whether to order a new one or not.
If you ordered from Amazon I would definitely contact them. In my experience whenever I have contacted them about the condition of the item, they have immediately sent a replacement and a return shipping label.

Yes, Amazon would send a replacement, I'm certain. I just can't decide if I can wait!
On another note, I ordered the Hamilton Vocal Selections for $17.50 on Friday, and noticed it was $11.99 today, so I cancelled my original order and bought it again for the lower price. However, I probably should have kept the original order and had Amazon adjust the price. Now it won't arrive until I am in NY next month watching Hamilton. Oh well! Saved a few bucks toward my next show!
I'm disappointed that I paid the extra 8 dollars and they changed it today (after it had shipped from Amazon). Will Amazon reimburse me? they have a feature where they guarantee the lowest price but only while its on preorder...like it's only 8 bucks but I feel kind of cheated (although I'm glad that I'll be getting it tomorrow instead of 1-3 weeks from now).
My covers are unfortunately also "bowed" but I assume it's a production error. I'm thrilled with the book other than that.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
I had to have them send me a replacement which isn't scheduled to get to me until next week. I don't have to return the damaged one until mid May. So, I'll keep and read this one (along with my son) until either I'm done or the new one gets here.

I'm going to contact them about the music....ridiculous that they changed the price right after they sent it to most of us.

I noticed all copies in my local Barnes & Noble were bowed. In one or two of them, the bowing was very slight, but most it was noticeable even from a distance. I'll see what my Amazon copy is like tomorrow (assuming the delivery is on time).
My copy from Amazon is bowed ever-so-slightly, but it doesn't bother me. Hats off to JM and LMM on a job well done. The book is very handsome to look at and the pictures and anecdotes are great. It's a step up from the typical show coffee table book.
They no longer offer a lowest price post-purchase adjustment. They stopped doing that ages ago. So you are basically paying a premium to get it earlier than other people. I would be surprised if they accommodate you, but could be helpful to others if you report back what happens if you do pursue an adjustment.
If you're talking about Amazon, they reimbursed me the difference for my pre-order when the price of the American Psycho cast album went down and that was about 3 weeks ago so it hasn't been ages.
Actually, I decided not to pursue it as I read it wrong. As it turns out, it's only a 4 dollar difference, and that's not a big enough deal to be concerned with.

My copy (also pre-ordered on Amazon) is SO perfectly bound I'm afraid to read it. Maybe I should seek out one of these bowed ones for a reading copy? =D

Well, Barnes and Noble seems to have plenty of copies!!

They do a price guarantee for pre-orders (i.e. if the price drops before/on the day it ships, then yes they'll adjust it). If it's on the same day of release, then you should get the difference back. But it sounds like the items have been released (i.e. pre-order window has ended then the price drops). This situation doesn't qualify.
"It's the most beautifully designed and produced book I have seen in 20 or 30 years."
Does that include the quality of the binding? Also, have you looked at any coffee table books in the domains of art, interior design, fashion, etc. in the last 20 or 30 years?
I haven't seen the book, but the title impresses in its modesty.
Most places refund you if an item goes on sale within your return policy....it saves them restocking and in this case reshipping fees.
