Holy crap! What great news! Steven Boyer's performance was incredible, and the play is wonderful.

So happy about this! This could be a major shake up for Best Play now come Tony time!

I LOVED this play and Boyer was simply brilliant. Damn. Can't wait to see this again!
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

Thrilled at this news – was sad to have not gotten to see it in its original run and grateful I will now be able to!

Perhaps my expectations for the play were too high going in but I wasn't as blown away by the show as everyone else. I also saw the show from standing room at the Lortel and thought that was too far away.

Well I didn't get to see it off-Broadway so I'm excited.
I don't envy anyone who has to pick best actor. You already have:
Alexander Sharp
James Earl Jones
Bradley Cooper (laugh all you want-he got phenomenal reviews)
Steven Boyer
Nathan Lane
Josh Radnor and Hari Dillon
plus Larry David and anyone else from that cast
and possibly someone from Charles III (if that comes)
It's a tough category. Thus far, my vote is for Mr. Sharp, although I won't say I'm immutable on that point.

As an audience member, I don't have to pick anyone for best actor, so it really doesn't come up. If I enjoy three performances at a similar level, I don't even have to rank them. It's pretty easy.

Well, aren't you SPECIAL? You don't rank performances! How diplomatic of you.

"Bradley Cooper (laugh all you want-he got phenomenal reviews)"
Why would anyone laugh? Bradley Cooper is quite an accomplished actor.

Because he's considered "Hollywood" and in the Hunter Foster school, therefore ineligible to win anything

Only those unfamiliar with his stage work would think him "Hollywood." He was terrific in Three Days of Rain.
Now Julia Roberts, she's "Hollywood."

I loved him in Three Days of Rain. I'd have left if he wasn't there.

I'll laugh at the inclusion of James Earl Jones in that list. He was beyond terrible in YCTIWY.

I liked him and the show very much.
I do think they may move him into featured since it's a little less competitive.
I am wondering what's headed into the Jacobs now. (Wondering if it's Charles III.)

My best guess is The Heidi Chronicles in the Jacobs.

I think Boyer might inch ahead. As great as "Curious" is, I don't think he's doing anything any other actor couldn't do up there.

I've heard nothing but good things about this show, so I hope I get to see it this spring. Good for them for presenting such a risky show on Broadway.

Maybe it's not too late to get The Flick and Mr. Burns to Broadway! Perhaps put them in rep with Hand to God and sell a discounted set for all three shows- maybe even a marathon day on certain Saturdays.
Putting a play like this on Broadway is risky as hell and I applaud the producers for taking that risk.

Do it, if no other reason than to give After Eight an aneurysm.
Meanwhile, Hand to God is running this rather brilliant ad in the Sunday NYTimes.

Sharp is incredible in the role. I have seen it twice and he is giving a very nuanced performance. He's excellent.
