I looked for a link re this subject, but darned if I could't find one.  Anyhoo... HP construction will begin June/July at the Curran theatre in SF.  Curran staff is still awaiting word from the HP production team as to exact start date.  The Jungle will most likely be the final show at the theatre prior to Harry moving in,  No word yet on how faithful the physical production will be to the London/NYC productions.

Considering that they are preparing to start previews in Melbourne on Friday, I wouldn't expect any info on the San Francisco production until next month at the earliest. There is no reason to think that the production design will be any different than what is seen in London or on Broadway, excepting of course modifications made to fit the space.

The Lyric is still a barn compared to the size of the Curran...especially the lobby space.  Don't think there is any way they can cram the various lower and upper lobby "shoppes" into the Curran.

Hey, folks. A bit of an update. As a Curran Club member I was able to buy tickets to San Francisco's Harry Potter this morning. I decided to splurge and go for premium. As expected, you can't choose your specific seats. I checked a few dates and was always given center orchestra row B, C, or D. (I had been hoping for front row mezzanine.) 

A couple of observations that might be of interest -- premium tickets were $279. I believe this is somewhat less expensive than the prices in New York. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to check out lower priced options and where those seats might be. The process was kind of slow, and I was on a timer and nervous about getting kicked off the site. I can't remember the next level of pricing, except that it was under $200.

Most interesting to me -- my seats are consecutively numbered, C105-106. This has me wondering if there is just one center section, and no center aisle as in the New York production. This would surprise me, since they've ripped out all the seats for the Jungle and could put them back however they want. Maybe there will be a center aisle, with nonstandard seating numbers.

Do you mean that the premium tickets were $279 for each part?  You do realize that the play is in two parts, correct?

I am still awaiting group pricing for the balcony thru Curran group sales and the first two rows will be $159 per part, or so I've been told.  Hope to receive official word next week.

Yes, premium is $279 for each part. I opted for a 2-show Saturday (2 pm and 7:30 pm). It occurs to me that mid-week might be cheaper. I didn’t check.

Thanks for the update.  I signed up for the access link for tickets for the sale on March 11.  I received the link yesterday with instructions that prices will start at $59 and that the limit is 9 tickets per link, one transaction only.  I find it interesting (but not surprising) that I haven't read anything about refunds/returns, but I suppose they must have learned not to offer this option after the Broadway refund policy was changed and then eventually removed.

I was contacted today by Curran group sales, who verified that I'll have 50 seats in the balcony for my group on 11/14 [part 1] and 11/15 [part 2].  These are preview dates and will be slightly less expensive, but the final cost per ticket is still yet TBD for groups.  Most likely no savings.

Best of luck with your marathon Saturday.  I opted for that in NYC and found it exhausting.

Oh, I doubt that will be up in SF for several months.  Will be very interesting to see if it will be an original concept or a copy of one of the other cities' marquee.

I wonder if the storefront between the Curran and the Clift Hotel is available - that would be a possible location. I'm also wondering if any of the restaurants on the block will start offering HP themed dinners - especially on 2 show days. (Personally, we loved our 2 show Wednesday in NY, although you found it a slog)

...and yeah, I'm not expecting any nest to appear outside the Curran at least until after The Jungle finishes in May.

I saw it in New York too, and the marathon wasn’t a problem for me, but my hotel was just a few blocks away, so I had time to rest. I’m not sure what I’m going to do between shows in San Francisco. Allowing an hour for dinner, that leaves another 1-2 hours to kill? Does anyone have any suggestions? (I don’t enjoy shopping.)

A possibility is the cluster of art museums near Moscone Center. It's walkable, (Google shows 0.6 mile/12 min) but you may wish to take a cab or Lyft/Uber (which considering the time and SF traffic these days might take longer).
- The SF Museum of Modern Art - the biggie. An excellent collection, most recently with the opening of a new addition, primarily filled with the Fisher (GAP) collection.
Also, a number of smaller museums within a block
- The Museum of the African Diaspora
- Contemporary Jewish Museum
- The Yerba Buena Gardens has a museum for traveling shows across the street from the SFMOMA (may not be open)
...also, Google lists The Mexican Museum, but I think it's still more of a fundraising goal than actual building.

Many little places inside and nearby for dinner. Depending on your schedule, perhaps one of the little museums and a meal.  Also depending on the season, the Yerba Buena Garden park has entertainment and events scheduled.

I decided to try my link for fun and I am number 18,685 in the queue.  Glad I saw it on Broadway already, but it would be nice to take my family.  I wonder how long the wait will be!?  Good luck to everyone trying to get seats!

Spinning... spinning... spinning.   Each date I pick says no seats and then it respins for minutes!   The site says it's picking available dates at the price levels I've picked...and then it says nothing's available and I have to go through the spin cycle again!  And my sense is that there are a limited number of presale tickets or a lot of people are vying for those price levels at the same time.  Lucky I saw this in New York too.

Did you end up having any luck? I started at just under 10K. It got down to about 2K and really has died on moving, I have advanced like 9 spots in 20 min... I also saw in NYC but was hoping to go fairly early for the SF production...

I'm back in again, and I'm having the same experience with it just spinning, and then saying there are no dates.

I don't understand how a major ticket retailer pre-plans an on sale date for a major event and then doesn't arrange to have the bandwidth available to handle metered traffic. You had one job...

I'm still playing roulette.  Clocking over 2 hours since I got into the waiting room and about an hour since I got onto the ticket sales pages.  I'm going for the lower price levels cause I already paid premium in New York.   And nothing's come up in the 5 dates I've already picked.  Maybe should try for 2 nights in a row instead of one day.   I have to get back to work so I'm not sure I'm going to get anything.

I wouldn't stress about getting tickets. If London and Broadway have taught us anything, it is that the productions are holding back the release of a decent number of tickets. Unless you are going with a large number of people, it shouldn't be too hard to get tickets, especially if you are flexible with dates.

I agree with you Fosse76.  I live in LA.  My schedule's not as flexible, and I didn't want to jump into the March 14 release pool.  But I finally got mid-balcony for Saturday, Feb 1, 2020 (that seems like an eon away).   I'm going back to work   Best of luck to everyone.  It's very helpful to be able to share here.
