Is there any news? I keep waiting to hear if HERE LIES LOVE is going to reopen in a larger space for an open run. Does anyone know anything definitive?
Just spoke to a cast member last week, who is of the opinion there will be no transfer.

Well there aren't any theaters available right now anyway.

newintown... that saddens me. I was hoping that they'd find a ballroom space in the city, get a bar license and open for an extended or open-ended run. HERE LIES LOVE was by far one of the most fun shows of this past year. Not sure why The Public didn't feel the show had 'legs'. I get that reconfiguring a Broadway house was probably a bad idea, but there are several large spaces that could have accommodated this production. Too bad.
newintown, Did the cast member have any info on a release of the cast recording?
I feel like it can't be that costly. The Newman theater was reconfigured, and it's a pretty traditional space. I'd think they'd be able to find something that works. Maybe it's just lack of funding.
I mean Here Lies Love and Fun HOme were on so many Top 10 lists of 2013, yet neither of them are moving forward.

RippedMan, Here Lies Love played LuEsther Hall, which has been a flexible space since at least the mid-70's, not the Newman which I don't think has ever been reconfigured from a traditional proscenium. It'd be a very costly proposition to remake a space that wasn't built for flexibility.

PlayItAgain also insisted that Honeymoon in Vegas was taking the Simon, so take that with a grain of salt.
The Newman would be almost impossible to convert into anything other than proscenium without major renovations. That and the Anspacher are the Public's two inflexible performance spaces.
Pretty sure the show is going to be done at the Royal National Theatre in the UK this summer. It seems like a potentially good idea to let that happen first and use the reviews to help fuel the prestige value in a Broadway transfer.
MB-You mean "Here Lies Love"?
I think it would do very well in London.
It was going to transfer to Hotel Pennsylvania but ran into some problems. They are planning a Spring 2014 transfer.

Well, it seems that we have conflicting reports here. I hope Sutton Ross is correct.
A lot can change in two months. The spring is coming up rather quickly.
And the article just conjectures it'll wait until the spring due to Timbers' schedule. No official source actually said it.
I'm still confused-which show do we think is going to London? (Here Lies Love could actually do really well there.)
'Fun Home' can be done at the National Theatre, not sure 'Here Lies Love' would fit in there, unless they are going to do it in the theatre they are rebuilding at the moment, before they put the seats in.
Here Lies Love is rumored for the RNT Dorfman Theatre in July.
Wouldn't Fun Home come to Broadway before London? Yes, the article about Here Lies Love didn't confirm it, but hopefully they are still trying to make it work.
O.K. Michael thank you for that, the Dorfman is the theatre that is under construction at the moments, so will be great to have a critically acclaimed show in the new theatre.

Saw, Fun Home, last night, so I was at the Public Theatre. I asked about the transfer of both, Fun Home, and Here Lies Love. I was told that Fun Home was slated for Broadway and that Here Lies Love was going to be revived back at The Public in LuEsther Hall next season. That they were working out the issues with Equity now and that it would be announced soon. Not sure how accurate this is as often the usher at The Public are only informed by rumors, but those rumors are internal. Interesting.
Probably smart to delay Fun Home until next season. This season is already packed with new musicals, and most of which have opened to glowing reviews, making the Best Musical Tony even harder to figure out.
