"According to Playbill - previews start Feb. 24, 2011. I was hoping to see David Hyde Pierce as J.J. Biggley - but I don't think La Bete closes until early Feb - the 3rd or 4th I believe. So I'm a little disheartened with the Feb 24 preview date. "
La Bete doesn't close until Feb. 12. Although, it's not unfeasible that Hyde Pierce could be in rehearsals for How to Succeed while performing in La Bete. Biggley isn't an extremely demanding role.
I'm pretty sure it's feasible. If I remeber correctly from an interview, Jason Wooten only had like 10 days of rehearsals before the new cast of HAIR premiered. David Hyde Pierce could definitely figure a way to rehearse.
Cannot wait.
I'd love for DHP to be involved, but I'd ESPECIALLY love Michael Urie as Frump.
I'm feeling encouraged - thanks Kad and wdwfreak. :)
Cath me if you can goes into the Nederlander
This typo made me lol. I now have mental images of Norbert Leo Butz chasing after Aaron Tveit with plastic tubing.
I can't believe Daniel Radcliffe is opening a show next spring between the two Deathly Hallows installments. Of course, brilliant timing on behalf of the producers for the cross-promotion opportunities, but still, poor kid is going to be run ragged.

Riedel hinted at Catch Me If You Can possibly ending up at the Simon in his column about Love Never Dies recently, if I remember correctly.
Brooks Ashmanskas had less than a week between the end of the Present Laughter run and the beginning of Promises, Promises previews this past spring.
Lea Michele as Michelle Lee!
Gosh, Daniel sure is cute!
"Can he even sing?"
Maybe I'm the only person to think that it's just great that he's doing Broadway. To me, when Danielle Radcliffe pursues theatre it shows to me that he's a serious actor and the fact he's pursuing musicals shows me he wants to go one step farther and learn. I mean, I can't say whether or not he exactly can or cannot sing but I personally think he is putting himself into a situation that will sell tickets to a Broadway show and not even Hunter Foster can argue that he is good and serious with his trade.
This isn't exactly a singing role. It's a "carry a tune" role.
If he can hold pitch he'll be fine.
Can he even sing?
Matthew Broderick really didn't sing it all that well.
Radcliffe's performance in Equus two seasons ago was mesmerizing. I was so blown away by how wonderful he was, that I'm confident he'll nail Finch. His lack of a Tony nomination for Equus is one of the biggest Tony snubs of the decade.
If you have doubts about his ability to do comedy, watch his guest spot on Extras or any of the interviews he's done. He's got an incredibly sharp wit and is very funny.
His singing voice is pleasant, I think, and he's been taking voice lessons -- so if all he really needs to do is carry a tune, he should be okay.
Oh my God, the "Extras" segment. Hilarious.
Those willing to shell out $ 132 clams to see it, they probably will not care if he can sing ot not.

I've seen him on Extras and he is hilarious. He's also very charming. I think he'll do quite well in this role.
Mr. Roxy could hold his nose and mingle with the peons in the mezzanine if he wants to save money.
Jo Sullivan Loesser was apparently very pleased with Radcliffe's performance at the workshop and gave him a huge hug following. Personality is more essential than singing for this role.
I'm so sick of these gripes about singing. Not every role needs a Cameron Mackintosh style singer.
Radcliffe will be great. I have a lot of respect for him, choosing to pursue theatre when I'm sure he has had countless offers for other film projects.
^^
Agreed.
I'm sure Radcliffe will be awesome in this dream role of mine.
I disagree with Best12, I think this is very much a singing role. The range of most of the songs site very high for Golden age material - especially "Brotherhood of Man". However,I have a feeling Radcliffe really can sing.
He's not in awesome voice here, but it shows off his charm and sense of humor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2vqAcINtqM
I'm impressed that he wrote the song and am looking forward to him in H2$.
I was VERY impressed with him in Equus...still bummed he didn't get Tony recognition.
I think ACTING-wise this is a GREAT role for him. But I agree with others: a FAB voice, he doesn't need...but it sure doesn't hurt anything if he does.
One thing I like about the older musicals: not everyone had to be a great singer.
VERY excited about this one!
And Priscilla.
And CMIYC.
I'm not familiar with How to Succeed, but from everything I've heard he'll do really well...he's very charming and funny and he was incredible in Equus a couple of years ago, I was very disappointed that he was snubbed for a Tony nomination. I have a lot of respect for him and he seems to be really serious about his craft and is very talented.
I am very much looking forward to this and how the rest of the casting falls into place.
I wore out my copy of the Broderick recording when I was in high school though never got to see the production. Would like finally see the show.
Actually, when I was in high school I wanted someone to shake the show up and make Ponty and all of the bigwigs at the company women and all the secretaries men. In fact, I brought it up when I was in college and it was looked into but dropped.
Might be nice as a one night only charity thing.
DHP would rock at Biggley :) I wonder who will play Rosemary? Or Bud Frump? This casting should be interesting
