Like paying $ 200 a seat? It ain't far off. All this will do is price more people, including young people, out of the theater. It will also make theater less attractive for many others. As long as you are OK with gettting ripped off who am I to argue. Enjoy.
Except unlike you, who whines how expensive the center orchestra premium seats are, I have no issue with rear mezzanine, partial view, standing room, rush, lotto, or any other discount methods. I've never paid over $100 for a ticket.
If you're going to limit yourself to front and center seats early in the run, then it's your own fault for having to pay so much. Not the producers for taking advantage of the fact that there's a sucker who will still spend that much when there are cheaper options.
Is there really a difference between vampires and advertising?
A - MEN!!!!
I refuse to pay over $60.00 for a show. The only exception I would make is Night Music with Bernie and Elaine, but that's only If those are the only tickets left. It does not matter to me where I sit either.
Whatever Skittles
Make sure the next time someone other than me complains about high ticket prices. you take them to task as well
As far as the cheaper seats, the gap between cheap & expensive seats is narrowing. There used to be a balcony before it became part of the rear mezzanine. It really makes a good impression on a first date to take your date & sit in the "cheap"seats. That is a one way ticket to no second date.
What can I say. Apparently you enjoy being fleeced. Have fun. I assume getting taken to the cleaners by ticketmaster also makes your day.I guess paying full ticket prices for a 7 piece orchestra is OK by you as well.

At first I didn't like the artwork, but Telecharge just recently sent out an e-mail with the Dan Rad photo with the H2S wording over it (instead of off to the side). I like it a lot better now. I also like how his bow tie is slightly askew (little touches). It really looks like the cover of a cheesey self help book now, but a little bit to 80's ish instead of 60's ish. I think it's the font, but it's a minor quibble.
There's no doubt that "How To Succeed..." discounted tickets will be available after the show opens. About a month or two after "La Cage" opened, there were offers for tickets at 40 percent off the regular price. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the discount because of the date I chose. What I'm wondering about is Daniel Radcliffe's singing ability. I imagine he's going thru some strenuous vocal preparation now. Is it possible that his singing will be similar to Matthew Broderick's (i.e. nothing special)? Just wondering....from RC in Austin, Texas

Uh. No. Not at all.

La Cage was discounting before they started previews.
If anybody bought me any kind of theatre ticket for a first date, I'd be well impressed!
The font kind of looks more suited to "It's A Bird..." but I am still nonetheless very excited!
The difference Mr. Roxy is that you complain about EVERY show and its pricing and yet you always "suck it up" and end up going to see things with Mrs. Roxy. We just get tired of hearing you do that: over and over.
Theater is not a necessity in life. (OK..it IS in my life.) It is entertainment. If you cannot afford it: DON'T GO.
Some shows I truly WANT to see from front and center and want to be sure to be able to do it and will pay the full price. (never premium, and I will never pay the ridiculous prices for aisle seating!) MOST shows, I will wait for discounts or sit in the rear mezz. Pure and simple.
Get over it or stop going to the theater.
Exactly, dramamama. I do respond to others' complaints- I posted in response to perfectliar on the last page- but more often than not, you're the one complaining, Roxy.
I just think it's ridiculous to complain about how expensive full price Broadway theatre tickets. Compare that to the cost of opera tickets, or ballet, or the symphony, or professional sports. You think center orchestra seats are bad, check out the price of 50-yard line seats. Even movie tickets are going up- I paid $13.50 for a ticket the other night. Everything is more expensive, not just Broadway. If you don't like it, stay home and watch network TV.
If you want to see theatre on a budget, try off-Broadway, or off-off-Broadway. I'd be more impressed with that than someone who blew $250 apiece on premium seats to the latest blockbuster tourist show on Broadway.
This discussion has sunk to a definite bottom.
I was watching the Robert Morse film the other day; he was wild and manic and adorable and bizarre. By comparison, Broderick was just a pudgy bore. Cute, but a bore. I remember reflecting that audiences now seem to prefer bland and explicable to unique and unusual. For instance, a Carol Channing would be impossible to find today.
Will Harry Potter be even more cute and normal than Broderick? Or do you suppose he might possess wild comedic genius heretofore untapped?
Broadway.com says the role of Rosemary has already been cast.

Yeah I remember reading about her being cast a while ago.

First of all, Harry Potter isn't playing Finch, Daniel Radcliffe is. If you can't see beyond one role this particular actor has played (albeit for a long time), then perhaps you shouldn't even bother with the production. Daniel Radcliffe has proven numerous times he's a lot more than just "Harry Potter." His performance in Equus was outstanding, and as was mentioned earlier, if you doubt his ability to do comedy, go dig up his performance on Extras with Ricky Gervais...hilarious. But, it sounds as though you're mind is already made up, since you seem to think "Harry Potter" is playing Finch.

How many first dates is Roxy taking to the theatre?

skittles, I wasn't complaining. I just pointed out that it was pricey, since the last rows of Hair were $15 cheaper.
Oh, adamgreer, dear, what did you sit on? why does it offend you so deeply to hear Little Daniel referred to by his signature role? (Yes, yes, I know, I know, you thought he was brilliant in the horse play and the TV show, but he is still most remembered as the little wizard boy by the masses, if not by you.)
My mind, if anything at all, is certainly not made up. But I've seen Alan Strang (there, feel any better?) in his other works, and haven't yet noticed the wild note of brilliance that made How To Succeed succeed the first time around. Which is why I asked if anyone thought he had comic brilliance (the stage variety, not television) to make this wild, id-based character live again.

The role of Finch is all about the characterization, as the wonderful Robert Morse proved. It certainly doesn't require great vocal technique.
If Daniel can stay on tune, and come up with an interesting, fun, adorable character of his own he could be great.
He looks like an appraiser on "Antiques Roadshow" in that poster.
But the kid's got pizzazz, and I'm willing to give him a shot. I hope he's good!
Sorry if it's already been asked but who is the set designer?
If I go to theatre, I like to see the show very well, not to far back and quite central.
-I do not do premium tickets, out of my prize range.
-Hate booking well in advance as online ticket agencies, charge a fortune and then palm you off with crap seats.
-Happy to pay $60 - $85 for a good seat.
-If no discount is available, I will pay full price, which I did when last on Broadway for ALNM and The Addams Family, but the other 7 shows I got at discount.
-I imagine a cluster of shows will open early next year, so competition will be very fierce, so will be discount codes about.
-Hell even Promises, promises were offering discount code for the Saturday evening performance before it opened.
Who is Rose Hemingway??
