That's not an abbreviation, it's an aberration. Please do not let it be carried over into this revival.
I have to imagine that there will be no such thing as a discount code for this
Weren't there discount codes for Equus though? And he was *naked* in that one.
I don't think so. Not that I can recall.
I seem to think there were, because my sister and I went as our Christmas present to each other and I don't remember spending over $100 on tickets. I could be misremembering, of course.
That's the thing, more parents of more Harry Potter fans will buy more tickets because he has more clothes in this one.
Can't wait for the discount anyway.
Yes, it is definitely more family friendly and I hope it creates scores of new theatre fans.
Equus didn't discount initially, but eventually there was a discount code available, and it also appeared on TDF in the latter part of the run.
Pretty pricy? That's the new average. It's better than Night Music. They're charging $57 for views of the ceiling.
Equus was selling at 65% the whole run, including over Christmas/New Years. There were definitely discount codes.
I hadn't really thought about the younger Harry Potter fans and families that'll be seeing this, but I still don't think discount codes are impossible. Regardless, I'm super psyched about this.
I just hope that Rosemary and Smitty are ready to become the next Karen Walker and Margaret Johnson.
I can't verify the details of Equus discounts, but they certainly existed -- of course, AFTER I purchased my tix! Granted, I was at the box office the day it opened.
Hey Skittles
Like paying $ 200 a seat? It ain't far off. All this will do is price more people, including young people, out of the theater. It will also make theater less attractive for many others.
As long as you are OK with gettting ripped off who am I to argue. Enjoy.

It already is. I have to think twice about even attempting to go to the theater now. I'm not Rockefeller and I don't "got it like that". I can't just casually pull out $270.00 (and that's not including dinner and drinks) for a night out at the theater. God bless those of you who can because that is just INSANITY.

I defntly want to see this, but not at these prices.I do not go to the theater as often as I used to because I just can't afford it. Will wait for discounts, if any, if not, oh well. Did see him twice in EQUUS with Discounted TIX. Hats off to Radcliff for seeking a new challenge.
^YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY THE EXPENSIVE TICKETS!!!
It annoys me so much that people think they HAVE to buy top price tickets, there are seats for $52 in the Mezz. Yes they might be at the back but you will still see it! It is the same for EVERY show so if you don't like to pay $100+, get the cheaper tickets!
I couldn't afford the £60 price tag for a show recently in London, so I paid £13 and Stood in the back of the gallery (4th tier) and saw the show from there. It wasn't ideal, but I made it work! You do not HAVE to dine out/drink out! These are all luxuries you can bypass.
Mark_E,
I do agree with you. Yes, I do go to the theatre a lot when I am home. But, I do go via rush or TKTS or TDF or a discount code or something like that. All of us on here know that the prices listed either on Telecharge or Ticketmaster for a show are not the only prices and the only ways to get tickets for a show. It makes no sense to feel like they are.
Also, I did see Equus twice. Both times were from TKTS. If I remember correctly, the show wasn't selling as well as the producers thought that it would have. Therefor they used discount codes and put the show up on TKTS and TDF etc. I do however, think that this one will sell a little better due to the fact that How To Succeed In Business is much more family friendly then Equus.
It's a family-friendly musical, starring Daniel Radcliffe, wedged in between the openings of the last two Harry Potter movies, and may be starring other fairly big names. It's going to be a very hot ticket in the spring.

And Mark_E, this is exactly what the producers say. When discussion of ticket price comes up, they agree but say the work to offer seats for less. They have no intention of lowering the price of an Orchestra seat, but finding ways for all economic demographics to buy a ticket.
You know what it reminds me of, where orchestra seats are hundreds of dollars and top balcony is $25? .... The opera.
I agree, I think this is going to be much bigger than Equus.
I'm just curious to see how Ashford conceptualizes this production because his revival of PROMISES PROMISES (what with setting it in the early 60s) looks pretty much like a traditional revival of HOW TO SUCCEED. To that end, I don't think timing wise its the best to revive the show, but obviously they are going on the Daniel Radcliffe name as the draw.
You would think that How to Succeed is pretty darn period specific, but Ashford is Ashford so who knows what he'll do.
In addition to Radcliffe, they're also capitalizing again on the "Mad Men" vibe.

They should really pander and make them all vampires.
