I sent my tape in a few weeks ago. I live in Texas so it took a few days for it to get to LA. It got there on a Thursday and I got a call the Monday after that. So about four days from the point they recieved it. Which was actually only about 2 to 3 buisness days. Yeah, Seannak is right, all materials were due Monday morning, the casting guy told me to get it in by early this week. I had a really bad case of bronchitis and said I wasnt sure I would be able to get it in, and he said, well if you dont get it in, you dont get it in! So, I ate zinc like it was candy for about five days so I could make another one! And thankfully it worked out!
haha did you guys at Toronto see all the skinny girls getting turned away??? That was interesting. I was # 7 . But i was 2nd in line. That pissed me off!! It was really fun! They didnt take any Links from my group. and only 2 Tracy's . It was weird so many of us girls sang really good but they only picked those 2. Anyways it was sooo freakin cold outside i couldnt think. Im not used to being in that cold weather im from florida! lol. I was in the Toronto Star the next day that was cool.
I read the Star article! It was good!
I think getting picked for a callback was a combo of looks and your singing. So if you didn't get called back its not because you didn't sing well!
It was fairly cold outside...(when we finaly got inside I could feel my toes thawing out because I had tiny shoes on) but Its actually a lot warmer than it had been!

Hey...New to this whole thing.
I am going to school in Scotland (I'm from NH) and sent in a tape in late Feb and just got a call yesterday about sending in a second one, which I never though would happen! Plus I have to get it in ASAP since it takes FOREVER to send something from here at least a week or two!
anyway, it's so fun to read all of your stories and what direction they have given you. The guy I talked to seemed super nice and really excited!
seannak ..lol i had open toe shoes they just had little straps! lol. Some lady in line got me a pair of new socks she had in her car! lol. I'm not bugged that i didnt get a call back i was so cold that my throat as so dry it was unreal!! but i dont care it was my first real audition and u get more no's then yes's ya know? the people were just awesome . And all the girls i met were just so friendly. I look the part and i can sing the part. I did it at Thespian comp. and got a supior and a supior at states. Just a bad day. oh well i'm not bummed just excited for everyone !!
I really don't care about Hairspray but I've been reading all your posts and have my fingers crossed for one of you. Judging from your avs any of you would make cute Tracy's. It's so exciting so many of you got calls. Keep posting your updates I got rid of my TV so this thread is filling the emptiness left from not watching American Idol this season.

hahahahaha...oh American idol....I must admit...I miss it...But the Uk has xfactor which is just as good and you get Simon yelling at Sharon Osborne instead of Paula!
Where are you going to school in Scotland I have a friend at the Royal Theater Academy or somthing like that.

The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Theatre!?
What program?
I sent you a PM with his name
Takemeorleaveme2 : Oh no..open toed shoes?? I read in the paper that someone gave you socks....thats so cute. I love when people are friendly and helpful.
what is a supior??
i'm pretty sure they meant superior. i just got back from state and got superior on my solo too! i got critcs choice with it for my district. our large group musical got best in show at state in florida (biggest thespian comp in the world) and an invitation to nationals!
i'm so excited for everyone on this thread! sounds like many of you really have a chance! yay! i never got a call or anything so i'm assuming that's a no, but i'm not upset or anything at all. i'm just so grateful to have had the oppurtunity to go to chicago in the -27 degree weather and put my face out there! :)
i feel blessed to have been able to sing at all. sounds like at recent auditions they are, in fact, typecasting and sending the skinny girls away (please, no offense, anyone) so i'm really just happy to have been able to put my voice and face out there, like i said.
Break a leg to everyone tall, short, big, little, white, colored, EVERYONE!!!!
much love!

BrighteyedinNYC you were at states in fl??? Me too i performed there. What was ur big group musical?? i saw so many that were awsome!
Hi! New to this board.
I'm a fellow auditioner on pins and needles and waiting for closure.
My long and involved story:
Well... I was on this season's American Idol. I got cut at top 44, but got some exposure (some of it humiliating, though).
Anyway, I got a call from somebody from firefly about auditioning for Tracy. I live near LA, so they told me to come up and audition at their office. I'd sent in a headshot to the Broadway cast, but figured they got my info from there. I only just learned that somebody at Idol sent a tape of me to them. It was Paula and it was incredibly nice of her (so there. No matter what people say, always think about how she did something nice for a girl like me).
Anyway, there were about five Tracys, a seaweed and three Little Inez girls there. I did my scene and 16 of GMB. They gave me direction about emotion and fidning the heart of the scene and song and I did it again. Got a call to come for callbacks the following Friday.
Got to my callback and guess who's there? Carly Jibson. She was really nice and so fun and energetic. But it got to my nerves, being with such company. There was another girl there who's going to be on an upcoming sitcom. The third Tracy for that day was late. Probably a Nobel Prize winner, with my luck.
I did the same as before, but did it the way the casting directors had told me on my second try. The one producer said I had a great voice. He's worked with my Bette, so I'll hug that to me on cold nights. But I didn't feel very good about my scene. I felt flat and like my energy had been used on the song.
As they've had more open calls since, I don't feel very good about my chances. If they'd found what they were looking for, they wouldn't keep looking. And I know that, going near the other, more seasoned girls, comparison will not be kind.
Either way, I can't let it go. It's not over till the fat lady's cast. So I wish they'd cast her already and put me out of this limbo!
There. Story told.
LOL! it's not over till the fat lady's cast...I LOVE IT!!

When I spoke to someone on Tuesday they said they wanted to get it settle in the next week. I was told I need to get my tape in ASAP because of that.
D-Day! I love it! Has anyone who sent in tapes been asked to come to LA? My acting coach said that would be the next step!
takemeorleaveme2~~~~
oh my goodness! that's so kewl! did you have a good time at state? our large group musical was "The rhythm of life" from sweet charity. we got critic's choice and performed it at the second closing ceremonies showcase. did you get to see it? it was sooo amazing to get to perform in the beautiful morsani theatre! what did you do?
Im so excited for all of you good luck!
Apeygirl...
I have to ask, what is Simon really like?? I auditioned through a TV station in Lubbock (Texas), but not much came out of it. I ended up singing at a funeral instead! Watching American Idol is kinda hard, especially the auditions! Some of the people make my ears hurt!!

They asked me if I could send another tape and if not then I would have to fly out to LA, but that's all i heard about flying to LA. I sent my tape on thursday but the UK has a 4 day weekend this week since it's easter and it won't get to LA untill thursday of next week, and they told me that they wanted to get casting done and settled by next week....so I hope it makes it on time. of Course if the May 1 to 13 thing is true I'm all set with it getting there on time!
oye!
Simon is a bit intimidating. Mostly because you can see his mind working to find that perfect insult (I guess I don't blame him. It's most of why people tune in). He was a bit mean in Denver, but really warmed up after my "Bat Out of Hell" rendition in Hollywood. He was much nicer after that. When I was cut, all the judges were very complimentary (You're great, but...) If I'd got top 24, however, I know Simon would have had a few dinner theater comments reserved just for me. He can be harsh, but that's his M.O. He's very nice besides all that.
Any news? Huh? I was hearing Pfeiffer and Crystal rumors. Any body have confirmation?
As far as I go, I think I can count myself out. My agent says they're concerned about my age. I am 28, so I guess it's just not my time. I might get away with Tracy onstage, but probably not for film.
Oh, well.
Anyone know how you get yourself an audition for the touring company?
**BrightEyedInNYC**
I was only there wen. and thurs. i didnt get to stay for the rest cuz i left town to go to toronto to audition for Hairspray lol. I did No Good Deed from Wicked and I was supose to perform friday but i couldnt cuz i left and they refused to change me to another day i was really upset. Last year i did I Can hear the Bells from hairspray and got Critics choice at districts but not state. They only have one state right?? like they dont have any other places do they? dumb question i know..
i really dont like america idol at all
