At least Shannon Durig has that adorable-cute thing going on. Carly Jibson looks like she got hit in the face with a shovel by Sarah Jessica Parker, and then said, "Sarah, can I have some of your facial features?"

Honestly, I don't know how (or why) they'd cast anyone but Shannon Durig. She is phenomenal. Absolutely the perfect Tracy IMO.

hey, I'm just wondering is anyone has heard anything from the casting director from Hairspray the Movie. I auditioned in Toronto on the 8th, got a call back, and it went awesome. Now I am just waiting. I was just wondering seeing how there are so many people on here who auditioned, if anyone had heard anything. Good luck to everyone.

yes.. they just tell her to pull back. That is probably why she is having a screen test.

There are some actors out there who have the ability to turn on and off the B-WAY charm.

But Tracy is somewhat over the top. If you go back and watch the original hairspray movie... its very over the top.


and although this is a movie, and some say actors should play it down... its still a musical afterall.

so I was eating lunch to day and the head of my program came down and said "oh you are just the person I am looking for" casting agents from the Grindros cating in London called her looking for girls for Tracy for the film, so I maybe going to London on Tuesday to sing for them. So they must still be looking. I sent in a requested second tape, so I'm not sure if the call to my school was connected to that, since when they called requesting the other tape they called my moblie.
So for all you UKer's there is hope.
and for everyone else it's not over yet!

I just spoke with someone from the casting agents in London and they said they didn't find what they were looking for in the states which is why they are looking in the UK. One of my friends also sent in her headshot/resume today like me and she wasn't asked to come to London. I am heading out on Friday (today is wednesday!ahhh so little time) to see them, then if they like me they'll have me back on tuesday for a video to send to LA.

Anyone heard from the casting director yet? I got a call this morning from David Petro (of Bernard Telsy casting.. they do the Bway show of Hairspray) and he told me to be expecting a call from Firefly casting in the coming week. He was calling to find out if they should call me directly or an agent. I didn't even get a call back (although I had a kick ass singing audition). Are they doing a round of callbacks now for, maybe, the Nicest Kids in Town or something? Anyone know? Thanks!

I just got back from the London call at David Grindrod's. Who was super nice! I was asked to come back on Tuesday to be filmed so that they can send it to LA, there were about 10 girls there, I was second and my friend was 6th and when we left we were the only two who were asked to come back on tuesday. The list for tuesday was about 7 girls. They really liked what I did and were so nice and very helpful. Alot of the girls were taller and not as big as I would have thought they wanted. We also could hear pretty much everything that went on in the room from the hallway. I think My friend and I were the only North Americans there. They didn't give us any clue about when they would be casting, but I imagine we'll get more details on Tuesday when we film.

thanks everyone!
My friend and I suprised actully, coz we're not big girls so we weren't expecting to be asked back, we were just chuffed that we got to be seen by David Grindrod and got to skip out on classes for the day to go to London!
Actully, when I was walking into the train station to go home, I bumped in to this little skinny thing and she said "watch were your going fat bitch" and I was so tempted to turn and say "oh yeah...welll..." but didn't. I thought that was pretty funny considering why I was in London. :)

naw! I thought it was pretty funny. My friend and I were like well, at least we know we looked fat enough today!
