As far as I know the Baltimore accent isn't crazy, so I think for anyone who's not from the states a general accent will do the trick. Please correct me if I'm wrong,I really don't think Baltimore has some weird accent. But as far as I can remember (I haven't been there in like a year or two) there isn't anything to different from my New Hampshire accent (although, there are some new hampshire accents that are awful) to the Maryland one.
Looking in Austria...that's crazy, they really must be hard up for people, which seems weird! how many open calls did they have in the US/Canada???? like 6? plus a britsh call...crazy.
hummm we'll see.
Hey Hannah, Claire, how do we find out if our tape was sent over???????????? I just got back from being away and got back and read the rest of the thread and now.....aaaah! Claire, come on msn!!!!
Shannon Durig had her screen test on Saturday. SHe said there were four other girls doing a screen test. The original Tracy, the touring Tracy, herself, and another girl. I just wish they would make up their minds.
How do you know that about Shannon Durig?
Her mom told me. I saw her up at the dance studio where Shannon used to go before she moved to New York.

Aah cool, it's just they saw 8 of us from the UK last week and we're all on tender hooks waiting for any info at all!! Can't believe they're going to Oz now to look, crazy. Ah well!
Thanks!
yeah - australia, not austria!!!!!!!!!!!
i don't know how you find out who's tapes were sent, i'm just assuming that as my agent talked to the office they would have said then if mine wasn't just so i wasn't hanging on unecessarily.

I guess they know who they want. On the web sight they said that they are now ONLY looking for a Link. All materials must be sent in by the 19th of May. I wonder if that means that we will have to wait to find out who the others are until they find a Link. Do you think that they have already called people? Do you think that they want to release all the information at one time? I guess we will find out.
ooo awesome. I like how it says ONLY all bolded.
May be who they chose for Tracy doesn't "fit" well with the Links they saw. - an older looking Tracy needs an older looking Link same as a younger looking Tracy would need a younger looking Link.
think its Shannon?

who knows really. its crazy to think that they looked in so many places and ended up thinking of the girls who have already done this. I thought they wanted a "fresh face" however i guess it would be pretty intimidating to have a brand new Tracy acting against legends like Meryl Streep and John Travolta.

check out this awesome clip........I wish I could find a video of this audition.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GiFwlMHkdY
Thats what I have been thinking this whole time... But what is an "unknown?" Does that mean a girl who has never doen anything, or can she have worked on maybe a commercial here or print work there?
I cant imagine the pressure a girl would have carrying a movie and acting with big hollywood performers - with lil to no experience.
-She would have to be extremley gifted to be able to do something like that right off the bat.
and I can imagine the worry the studio and producers would have with a complete unknown who could potentially buckle under pressure.
On that youtube vid- I didnt find that girls rendition all that pleasant to listen to.
She had very little emotion in her voice, and I dont believe she loves Baltimore as much as she says she does.
good good good luck to you all!!!

Just replying to whoever mentioned accents-I live in Baltimore and there is most definitely an accent. Not too out there, but there is a distinct sound to it. I don't know if it will make a huge difference, i dont think Riki Lake used one in the original movie.
If you think about it, the people who playing Tracy on broadway and the tour are unknowns. If you are not into the broadway scene then you most likely will have no idea who these women are.

Yeap i guess so. Alot of people wouldn't know who the "famous" people are on broadway right now. I guess it's all working out for the best. I think it was awesome that they let so many people audition. The experience alone was amazing and unforgetable.
the general public wouldnt know a broadway star from 40 years ago let alone currents.
think of it this way...it is going to someone who has done/is doing the show...so they went for someone who basically knows all of the lines and dances and songs. At least who ever auditioned for the role of Tracy can think "I got beat out for the part by someone who has done it instead of another unknown" That is how I am looking at it!

justcoz - The original Tracy???
do you mean Marissa Jaret Winokur???? I always wondered why in the world they did offer the part to her in the first place. she so good, her only fult that she looks older.
OH man, if she gets it, they should bump ol' johnny boy and bring back Harvey!
I doubt it will go to Marissa...on screen she could not play a believable teenager. If its going to a girl who has previously done the role - its probably going to Shannon.

Even on stage last year Marissa Jaret Winokur was looking a little old...and she's the same age as half the cast! My preference would be Shannon.
I agree MJW is too old even though I love her to pieces!
I really want them to tell us, because it just feel like I can't really move on until they tell do.
I mean offically they have only casted two people so far, but I sure soon there will be a a huge wave of casting anouncements, but the sooner the better!
ahhhh, feel like I'm going compeatly bonkers!
