re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

Actually if you want to get technical, "Hairspray" on Tues, Wed & Thurs had the number one screen per capita. That means, of all the screens playing movies, the ones playing "Hairspray" made the most. But Potter is on 1164 more screens and C&L 374, so if "Hairspray" were on the same amount as C&L, it would be number one.

Just got back from seeing it again. They've transfered it to one of the smaller seating arrangements already! Granted this theater was actually full unlike the first time I saw it.

Has the film even been released in foreign markets (besides the UK)? I could see it doing really well in Australia.

re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

Don't know why, but Hairspray seems to be doing well Monday-Thursday. It has beaten C&L and Potter the last four weekdays, but come in behind both on the weekend.

re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

Hairspray does well during the week - much better than the films that surpass it during the weekends.

I am sure Hairspray will pass the 100 mil mark this week, with domestic and international sales.

Hairspray opens in Argentina and Mexico this weekend as well.

I adored Dreamgirls, but I'll be REALLY happy if Hairspray makes much more than it (and it most probably will) !!!

re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

I hope it does better than Dreamgirls. I only saw Dreamgirls once (which was enough), whereas, I've already seen Hairspray 5 times since it opened. I know I'm good for a couple of more times, too.

re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

I saw the HAIRSPRAY movie yesterday- thought it was great, a little disappointed, but definitely the best movie musical made recently and a ton of fun.
Yeah, I really want to see the movie again now :) Wish I saw it instead of THE SIMPSONS MOVIE today, err

Anyways, congrats to HAIRSPRAY on over $100 million. I think thats a great sign- imagine when the dvd comes out! This movie is going to turn out very successful in the end. re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

Go Hairspray! If this movie stands the test of time, it could easily be one of my favorite movies. Ever. I'm lame, I know, but I love it. re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

re: Hairspray Box Office Tracking Thread

Looks like Hairspray finally beat out Chuck and Larry.

Estimates show Hairspray took the #6 position with $6,370,000 with Chuck and Larry at #7 with $5,950,000.

Still a tight margin. It may be too close to call.

But Hairspray is still in good shape!
