re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

Thanks Mateo for letting me know - I appreciate it. I am expecting mine to arrive sometime today or tomorrow - Monday at the latest. I had a feeling it would be pink. I plan on not opening it and keeping my eye out for the green one through the holiday season, and if I have no luck, i'll just settle for pink...maybe you're right and it's not so bad after all. I can't even find a green one on ebay - they must be extremely limited.

re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

I, like many of you LOVE the transitions between Big Blonde and Beautiful and Boink-Boink.

While putting together an iTunes playlist of all the Hairspray songs in order, I decided to make an Mp3 version blending the music between Velma & Motomouth getting ready, Big Blonde and Beautiful, Boink-Boink, and the conclusion of Big Blonde And Beautiful.

My friend Joel heped me rip the intro.

I hope you all enjoy! Tell me what you think.

This is just for fun. Support Hairspray!

re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

Just an update:

I have found the LINK LIME LOCKER! FYE has them. I searched and searched online last night and I saw someone on a message board say FYE had them - I called this morning, and sure enough, they had two of them. No pink, just lime. It's actually slightly darker than the picture, but it's very nice. Of course, it wasn't 39.99 either - it was $60.00 because FYE doesn't discount like a Best Buy or Target. Oh well - I will have to send the Amazon one back - unless it's Lime - then i'll keep that one and take the expensive one back to the store.

So, if anyone else is looking for this color - check FYE if you have one near you.

^^ I found one too! :) I am getting it for XMas, though. I had already bought the DVD with the last of my $ but when I get the locker, I can give the DVD to my cousin for her B-Day.

re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

^I'm glad you found one also! Where did you happen to find it? You're going to love it - I feel like such a dork, but i've already decorated it! It's so cheesy that it's amazing.

re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

I could not decorate mine; the sticker perforations are off.

If I peeled them, a quarter of the image is the background. If that makes sense.

Oh well. I think I might paint the characters on it any how.

Glad you could find the Lime Locker, Link.

I found it at an F.Y.E. at my mall. I want it so bad but I don't know whether I should decorate it or not.

I saw the stickers. I get what you mean. When you try to peal it, it isn't the exact image; just most of it with the other pieces of the original sheet. I might just doodle on the locker like how the HSM2 cd is or something.

re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

I know exactly what you mean about the stickers. They are on white paper and look great - but once you peel them off, you can see through them - which is why Tracy looks like Elphaba in a certain light on the green locker - haha. But, I still decorated it. I didn't go overboard though. I also think the stickers are a pain to peel off because they are fragile. You would think they would have made it so that you could re-use them and re-decorate as needed - haha - but I guess I'm going overboard now.

My amazon.com order should arrive tomorrow so i'll be sure to let you know what color it is. I've decided to keep that one also no matter what the color. I'm just going to keep it sealed. Not that it will be worth anything in 10 years, but it's nice to have - especially since i've used the stickers on this one.

Anyway, i've just finished watching it for the 10th time since Tuesday - I can't get enough of it. When it was in the theater I saw it 5 times the first week. Unfortunately, I have yet to see the show in NY - I had tickets but it was cancelled due to the strike. As soon as it's over, i'm going to order tickets again.

Colorforms! Now there's an idea!

I know you can make stickers with printer sheets - but I don't know if there is a company making vinyl static-cling printer sheets.

Perhaps there are. Then you could print out any image you want and re-use them.

I think suplly stores sell materials to make your own magnets - that way you can re-docorate with your own Hairspray magnets or what have you.

Yes, Colorforms!

I never tried to make my own stickers, but I like that idea - I will look into the different types of paper now that you clued me in on it! Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm guessing it would have cost more for "Colorform" like stickers to be produced....or they just didn't think.

re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

Marc,

Is there a version of "Miss Baltimore Crabs" with the cut verse about Velma's dead husband? I can see in the special features Michelle is rehearsing the verse to playback...so it must exist. I know it was cut because it no longer flowed with Velma's backstory re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

Secondly, thanks for this film...it's an amazing piece of work. I saw it 3 times in the first week in theaters and I smiled the whole time throughout. I have never seen the Broadway version, but when the strike ends, it's the first show I will see.

Thanks so much Marc!

re: Hairspray DVD - On Sale Now!

There's another bonus DVD special- this time at Borders. It's teh"Shake and Shimmy Edition", and it comes with a 16 page behind-the-scenes booklet called "Story Telling In SOng- An Inside Look at the Music of the Film." It's really great and talks about each song and how it was performed in the film.
